A world where you can literally spend your life on a cup of coffee should be terrifying. Instead, In Time (2011) somehow turns one of the best sci-fi dystopia premises of the last two decades into a story that keeps dodging its own consequences, and we could not let that slide.
We walk through Andrew Niccol’s time-currency concept scene by scene, from the moment Justin Timberlake’s character gets a life-changing windfall to the way the movie handles time transfer, surveillance, and the so-called Timekeepers. SPEAKER_03Yay! Because, you know, one week is too much already, if we're being honest.
SPEAKER_02I was listening back to last week's show where I did a deep dive on Louis C.K. and I listened to that whole part. And I was like, yeah, pretty much got it spot on what I wanted to say.
SPEAKER_03That's a great take, me. Good job. I love that's good for you. So I like that your your 2020 hindsight is the same as your regular. You know what I'm saying? Sometimes I'll listen to the shows and I'll hear myself talking, and I'll be like, good point.
SPEAKER_02And I'll I'll be like, yeah, that's how I put it. That's it. That's it. Nailed that out the gate. I love that. I don't have a lot of, you know, uh, you know, where you look back and say, I should have done that differently. I I don't have that.
SPEAKER_03I get I get those a lot. Not just on the podcast, just in life in general. You know, you'll be driving home and you'll be like, boy, I really should have handled that differently. Mostly it's jokes. Mostly like it's a joke that I I either went for a joke and I was like, that wasn't the right joke. That's why people didn't laugh. This is a better joke. I wish I could go back in time and try this one instead. But you know. Okay, so it is their fault.
SPEAKER_02It's just you also you also have access to better jokes. That's right. Yeah, it's a mixture of both, you know.
SPEAKER_03So it's it's they fucked up, but I can eat I could I'm so funny, I could even be funny. That's right. I could step it up. You're right, guys. I'm sorry, I'm bringing my A game and you need my A plus game. I understand.
SPEAKER_02I know. Shannon hates it when I like start running bits and doing my thing out in public because uh I, you know, I think I'm so funny, but I get people going. I've I'm I'm you you get to a certain point where you're like, if the situation's right, you're like, I and it's like it's the impromptu training where you're like, okay, this is gonna get a laugh. And you say, because people don't say anything. I learned that a long time ago. Is people don't say anything funny or interesting in life.
SPEAKER_03Normal people, sure.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they're just used to these people coming through that that that don't that don't run bits or anything.
SPEAKER_03They just well, because they just live their lives, Tan. That's what that's what normal people do. They just go about their day and then they go home and they're like, well, that was a good day.
SPEAKER_02They're not looking not looking to constantly insert themselves to get a laugh in life. Exactly.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Well, that's that's it's not a bad thing. I'm not this is not a derogatory statement towards you. I'm just saying, you know, people are different.

Oh, you can uh I'll have to find the thing where you can uh see the parts of it. Because, you know, it did leak out, so you could you could probably Yeah, I'm not gonna pay or support it in any way.

SPEAKER_02Well, no, he he he's released everything on his well, we're not supposed to be talking about him, but I know we're doing a bad job. He didn't he hasn't released that one on his website for all of us to see free, you know. Okay. On this show we talk about movies and we we granularly dissect them. And sometimes we talk about scenes that we we we we talk about so vaguely that we're the only people that know what we're talking about. And so does that happen? Oh yeah, god, it's terrible. I was listening, like I said, I was listening to that last episode, and I'm like, what am I even talking about? What am I referring to right now? Okay, because you know, I uh the the people that do the good concise ones where they do you know 20 minutes on a movie, you're like, oh, okay, that you know, good for them. I I don't I don't think we could for them.
SPEAKER_03I I don't know that we could Oh, we cannot do that. No, no, definitely not. If we could, we would have done it by now. We're 300 episodes in, Dan.
SPEAKER_02It's the smart way to do it, but what was the the the the Anon one, I think? The movie Yeah, what there's one of them where the movie was an hour and 40 minutes and we went in an hour and 41 minutes.

SPEAKER_03Andrew Nicole Nicole Nicole? Nicole Andrew Nickel.
SPEAKER_02Uh Andrew Nickel. Uh In Time, 2011, hour and 49 minutes, Justin Timberlake in a rare There was one joke in this movie. I meant I don't think I wrote it down. Was there? There was a joke. There was one joke.
SPEAKER_03Uh I didn't write it down either. So it was so good that we are just uh, you know, captivated by it, forgot to take a note.
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, so Justin Timberlake and what's her name? Amanda Seyfried. Um, I like this movie.
SPEAKER_03Okay, well, that's wrong. I didn't like this movie. Okay. I dare so I I don't mind the premise of the movie. I think it's it's a fine premise and could be fun. What you're saying, okay.
SPEAKER_02That's that was gonna be my bit was there there is a good premise here. Yeah. They don't examine it at all.
SPEAKER_03No, it's weird. It's such a weird so the entire third act of this movie really has nothing to do with time. Like, that could just be money. I know we're doing the metaphor, time is money. I get that, but there has to be something that directly ties into like they're just robbing banks now. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Like, just do it bank movie, then, guys. This is not this is not about time anymore. It's just money. We ran out of clever ways to do the time is money, and we're just doing money now. Very stupid.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they sort of switch into Robin Hood slash Bonnie and Clyde.
SPEAKER_03It's so weird. I mean, she turns into which one, Bonnie? She she goes full Bonnie real quick. Bonnie and Clyde, the woman is Bonnie.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Correct. You never know. You know what I mean? I mean, in this day and age, gender swap. Um see?
SPEAKER_03I didn't someone do that for Halloween on a TV show. They did a gender swapped Bonnie and Clyde. I think that's a thing. What do you for Halloween? Yeah, sorry, a Halloween episode of a television show. A group of characters went as a yeah, Bonnie and Clyde gender swapped. Yeah. Okay. It's a great reference, Dan. Okay, you just don't understand it. And you don't even know what show it was. I don't know what show it is. I don't know where it's from. No. You can ask AI, and AI will not tell you the current. I'm gonna try right now. You you tell your point.
SPEAKER_02Um, so yeah, there's at the at the very point, at the very beginning, they sort of set up that time is now the current. So the the premise of the movie is everyone's genetically modified so that they live to the age of 25, and then when they get to 25, then they give them a clock that has one year on it, and then that clock is your current well, how to chill. So okay, we'll we'll talk about that one second. This doesn't work. Um so you use that currency to pay for everything. So if so if you want to buy a cup of coffee, how much was the cup of coffee? I think I wrote it down.
SPEAKER_03Four minutes. Four minutes. And I think they were mad about that because the day before it was three minutes or something. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And so that's your currency. And then if your clock runs to zero, if you spend it all, if you you know, you pay your rent, you do do do do do do do, then you just die.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, which happens way more than I think it should. Oh, really? Well there's just dead people littering the streets, which I love. I think that's very funny. But if I was running out of time, I wouldn't find myself accidentally in the middle of the street.
SPEAKER_02Right? How was she two hours away from from him when they're in like a few years? If we try to do this map, because we've seen the map, we know what the what the world encompasses because we live in LA. And yeah, we do. And you yeah, it's not a two-hour walk from I mean, I guess it could be a two-hour walk.
SPEAKER_03Uh it could be, but if it was a two-hour walk, like I was trying to think about this. If it was a two-hour walk and you're traveling on a
Time As Currency Premise Explained
SPEAKER_03bus which stops, but I'd let's say you're averaging 40 miles per hour. Like that's a long, that's a long ways. It's a long ways, right? I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. I think she was dead either way. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, she was, because she only had an hour and a half, and then she had to go someplace two hours by foot or an amount of time that we can't imagine. See, because that's what it would be. It would be like if it was a two-hour drive. Yeah, I guess they charge you two hours if it was a two-hour drive, like or walk. Sure. Sure. Then you're not walking, you're sitting your ass on a bus.
SPEAKER_03Right. Not doing a whole lot.
SPEAKER_02You're saving that amount of time.
SPEAKER_03Um, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02But almost immediately, the thing that is interesting is you would live an ascetic life. You would not be drinking coffee, you would be eating the shittiest food, you would be like, you're you're you would always be downgrading your options if you were out of time.
SPEAKER_03You would think, but to be fair, I waste all of my money on food. We had McDonald's delivered this morning. So there's a chance that I would be this stupid person that's just like walking down the street, and I'm like, oh man, did I recharge my money to and then I'm dead? So maybe I was wrong. Maybe I would be dead in the street. I don't know. But I'd be alive. You would be alive for sure. Yeah, you know, what am I doing? Survival of the fittest. That's what all those rich people say.
SPEAKER_02I'm drinking water. I'd be eating hot dogs and water. I'd be like, yeah. Do you drink hot dog water? Would I drink hot wild hot dog water? Yes, to save save money.
SPEAKER_03And that's what I'm saying. Like you did the water, you got hot dogs, and then you have the leftover hot dog water, you're not gonna waste it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I mean, if you had to live on raw, if you had to live on ramen, you'd live on ramen.
SPEAKER_03I like ramen a lot. If you do drop a couple eggs in your instant ramen, ooh, boy, that's good. Egg drop soup. Oh, it has a name? I thought I created that.
SPEAKER_02No. I mean, so it does it turn the egg into like just spindly kind of nothing?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah, that's it. Oh, okay. Well, I love egg drop soup. Yeah, it's delightful.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's delicious. Um, so this sort of interesting premise that they set up, like you say, it turns into Bonnie and Clyde and Robin Hood, and and then they don't play any of that stuff like you need to play it, and the the police officer, they don't play him like he's anything, they don't play the rich guy like he's anything, they don't play the gambling like it's anything, and they don't play the arm wrestling like it's anything.
SPEAKER_03Well, to be fair, the arm wrestling's not really anything, and it doesn't make a lot of sense. You just you let them you let your clock run all the way down, and then they look at it, and then you drain them entirely. That doesn't make sense.
SPEAKER_02That doesn't make sense. Um, you couldn't fall asleep in this world.
SPEAKER_03No, no, people be jacking your time all the time because it's pretty easy just to time rape you. I don't know if I can say that, but that the dude in the beginning, he's asleep and he just like puts his hands, he's like, and time. That would happen every day. I would just you'd just be on the subway, on the bus, and people would just be like that, and I'm stealing your time. You don't even know. Crazy stuff. You'd be shaking somebody's head, stealing their time. Done. You're dead.
SPEAKER_02What a pleasure to meet you, sir, and I'm dead. It's not they they needed some rules to that that that made an amount of sense.
SPEAKER_03Rules to a universe? You're crazy over there. Um why does the baby have the timer? Are you telling me these aren't implants? Here's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_02Okay. He he gets. Oh, yeah. Well, I mean, they have to be implants, but if you grow, that would not do well. Um be weird, right?
SPEAKER_03You can't put it in when you're a little baby and it's this big and then it's stretched. Like, what?
SPEAKER_02That's why you'd put it in when you're 25.
SPEAKER_03That's a good idea. When you stop growing. You see how that makes sense? Like on your 25th birthday, now that you're fully matured, you go and you have a process.
SPEAKER_02But here's my question: if a kid wants candy, how does that kid pay for it? I guess they just get free candy.
SPEAKER_03That's the only explanation.
SPEAKER_02So you're just like the Mercedes-Bence, give me that Mercedes-Bence. I want whatever I want.
SPEAKER_03Well, until you're 25, you can get anything you want in this world. Um, have you ever seen the movie Logan's Run? No. Nope. It's old, Dan.
SPEAKER_02Okay. In Logan's Run, 1970 sci-fi movie, we posit that every everyone only lives to 25, right? Okay, yeah. And then supposedly then you go to this this renewal ceremony, and then if you're lucky, you you renew and you come back to life or something, but everybody just dies. It's by chance. Well, they they say that it might happen, but really they're just killing, they're just killing everybody.
SPEAKER_03Got it.
SPEAKER_02Cool. And there's like, you know, the sand men, which are the guys that uh enact the laws. And the one the one guy meets a hot girl and they they figure out that it's all a scam. Then they're this is all in like a dome. They leave the dome and they see that you could live outside, they meet somebody old, and then you know, so society's gone into the gone into the bunker, gone into the dome, and then things have changed to kind of get keep the population out. We loved it as kids. It's you know, it's a little corny now, but it's a thing that make it makes sense, right? Yeah, things evolved over the future, and you end up with this bubble where the world occurs in a very specific set of rules that we say are dumb, but you could sort of see that evolving. Yeah. The problem with this movie is the dome is the whole world.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, a hundred percent. And there's no real rules. They're very loosey-goosey.
SPEAKER_02So it's sort of the the the the world versus the pocket world, and when you try to expand your rules to the entire world, it just it automatically breaks down. You know, all the all the stupid, you know, Maze Runner, all those movies, they exist in these pocket worlds.
SPEAKER_03Let's not knock any Dylan O'Brien franchise, okay? I'm not knocking them.
SPEAKER_02I'm actually the reason why they operate the way they operate.
SPEAKER_03No, you're right. You said a positive thing, but yeah, you're right.
SPEAKER_02It's like Hunger Games, Pan M, you know, it's sort of this thing. And once you start expanding past that or considering the entirety of the world, you're like, well, how does that work?
SPEAKER_03Because it doesn't work. Yeah, it doesn't. What do you know?
SPEAKER_02You're gonna get the Chinese and the Russians and the Americans to all do this stupid it time thing.
SPEAKER_03But uh are they?
SPEAKER_02Well, I'm I mean, it's like this is Los Angeles. We see the map. The map is Los Angeles.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you're right. You're right, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And it's downtown. It starts at downtown, and then the beach cities are where you want to live. Yeah, you don't want to be downtown. That's the worst time zone. I'm saying even right now, Dan.
SPEAKER_03I'm afraid to go downtown. I try not to do it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so once once you set up the pocket world, is the entire world. And that was the other thing about the movie Gattaca, which this guy did, and Gattaca was like this this guy's working in this thing to try to get this thing. You know, we didn't worry we didn't worry about the rest of the world. And in stupid and on, it's the whole world that's somehow walking around going boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop. And yeah, and that leads to the terrible costuming of this movie.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Sure. Because it doesn't ever make any sense. Yeah. I mean, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just put clothes on them. It doesn't really matter. They don't have to aesthetically fit anything.
SPEAKER_02Well, it's like there's always like women wearing like dresses and high heels, and you know, in the y you gotta you gotta each different area where okay, that's the other thing we do is we have the poor in the middle, and then it gets richer as you go out. But poor people do not look especially different than the rich people, right?
SPEAKER_03No, they don't.
SPEAKER_02He has he has a suit of clothes that he can put on.
SPEAKER_03He looks good. He looks great. I'm just gonna come out and say he looks great, especially in the opening scene when he's topless and shit. Woo! That guy is built. In this movie. Do we not like him? I don't know if we like him anymore. So if we don't like him anymore, ignore me. I think we're just like, meh. Because didn't he like go perform really poorly at a concert and everyone's mad at him because he was like on drugs or something? I don't know. Maybe I'm spreading rumors right now, but I feel like I saw an instrument I think singing and just sort of dancing, and everyone's like, why did I pay to come see this concert?
SPEAKER_02Wasn't he the one that got pulled over by the police and he was drunk and he like cried to them?
SPEAKER_03Yes, he was indeed.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm just a dimmer lake. Why are you being mean to me, Paul?
SPEAKER_03To be fair, he was just on his way home from his friend's house and they were all drunk, Dan. Okay, cow. Don't drink and drive, by the way. That was a joke. Please don't do it. Anyhow. Shouldn't joke about that, Tony. I know. Cancel. You're canceled. I've been canceled many times.
SPEAKER_02Um, and they'll be like at the LA River, and then there'll be pedestrians at the LA River. And it's like, what? Why have you inserted pedestrians into the LA River?
SPEAKER_03I know, because we don't go there. That's not a thing. It's actually fenced off most like for the most part. I don't even think you can get down there, but you wouldn't, even if you could.
SPEAKER_02And this whole movie is shot in downtown LA, and they drive over the downtown LA bridges over and over and over again.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, in a row for one.
SPEAKER_02It's like over the river, back over the river, back over the river. You're just like, come on, just stop.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. The budget probably wasn't huge. All right. You know, there's only so many bridges we can go over.
SPEAKER_02Uh, it was terrible.
World Rules That Make No Sense
SPEAKER_03Okay, Tony, what if what do you have to say before we get into the one thing I want to say before we, you know, go to the bone, as they say. That's probably not right. Uh before we go down to Bone Town, um Roger Deacon shot this movie, and he's brilliant. I love him. I think the movie looks great. And uh, if you care about film in almost any capacity, uh work production, that's the right word. If you care about production, he has a great podcast called Team Deacons. Uh, it's amazing. They interview writers, directors, DPs, gaffers, grips. Like they do everyone in every facet of every job and just like talk to people. And it's a great podcast. We're not affiliated with this podcast, but it's a great podcast. I love it. So if you like it, listen to it.
SPEAKER_02Well, I wasn't listening to you. What are you saying? So this uh he does this or someone else on the book.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, he does it. So the DP, the director of photography, Roger Deacons, who's done a bunch of great movies, very talented man. Uh, he does a podcast. Oh, he does a podcast. Okay. Yeah, with I think his wife, his partner, I think it's his wife. Um they just they talk about uh production and tell you how the shit works and teach you how to do things and talk to people that are really interested. It's great, it's a great podcast.
SPEAKER_02So leave him a message, leave him a message and say, Why'd you work on this piece of shit? It's your fault.
SPEAKER_03I but I think it looks good, Dan. Oh, does it look good? The night scenes with that beautiful orange intense. I love that tungsten. I I think it looks great.
SPEAKER_02So he did a good job of shooting a terrible movie, but they had terrible production design, terrible uh sure.
SPEAKER_03But that's not his job, you know. He just points the camera.
SPEAKER_02Oh. And um The music. The music is especially bad.
SPEAKER_03There's like I don't think I've ever first of all, I've never heard anyone pronounce the E in especially before, and I I really enjoyed that damn.
SPEAKER_02What was I watching? I was watching something that uh Atticus Finch and uh Trent Reznor did the music to. Okay. Oh god, what was it? No, I can't think of what it was. It's just this week. And um there was like somebody just sort of drives up and appears someplace. Okay and they just put the big ass music all over it. And it made it important.
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_02This movie constantly, the music makes everything seem unimportant and you don't care.
SPEAKER_03I mean, you're right about that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And so, like, whenever, you know, when his mom dies, like every big thing that happens, you're just like To be fair, that scene was pretty funny.
SPEAKER_03So putting like dramatic music would have been too much for me.
SPEAKER_02We'll talk about how it was funny in a second. Because that was very funny.
SPEAKER_03It's really funny.
SPEAKER_02Great stuff. Boom! Voiceover. I don't have time to worry about how it happened. Time that's I don't have time to worry about how it happened. What that is saying is accept all the dumb rules that aren't really rules.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Try to act like that. We're putting we're in a fairy tale. We're putting an asterisk on our own movie. That's that's weird. That's a weird move, everybody. Don't tell me not to care about things because that makes me want to care about them even more. If you're like, don't look this way, I'm gonna look really hard that way. You know what I mean? Um, also, I would just rather, and this is just I don't hate voiceovers at the beginning movies. I mean, usually they're pretty bad.
SPEAKER_02Well, they're they're indications of things. Sure. They're indications of deficiencies in your movie. 100%.
SPEAKER_03And my thing is, this movie should theoretically be very, very easy to show me this system very quickly in a in a dramatic way that catches my attention, like, oh shit. I okay, this is what we're doing. Don't just tell me, hey, time kills you. So see you guys in a minute. I don't understand. That's so dumb. I mean there's so many ways that you could play this.
SPEAKER_02If a guy looks down at his arm and is ticking down his last, you know, if he's running and he looks down at his arm and tick, tick, dick, and then it goes to zero, and then he falls over dead. We're like, Right?
SPEAKER_03Well, what the hell?
SPEAKER_02You don't want that clock going to zero.
SPEAKER_03Right. Hey, we get it. We understand the conceit of the movie. Okay, cool.
SPEAKER_02And do that, you know, kill his mom, and like that's the first scene. Right? The mom's running down the street, she looks at her clock, clock goes there, he finds her body, she's dead. He's all like, you know, he looks at his clock, he sees he has a dance.
SPEAKER_03Don't do that. Don't listen to Dan because we need more Olivia Wilde in this movie.

His character's age, and then his mom's 250. Yeah. It's is fitty, right? And like I'm just saying that if that was the real world and moms when I'm 25 look like Olivia Wilde, I'm gonna be Oedible, right? Just full-on edible. Okay, hold on.
SPEAKER_02Let's let's let's go deeper into that. Let's go way deeper into that. Let's dig on in. Okay, so time is a currency. He wakes up, all right. Super hot mom. So there she is. And I was like, who is that? I'm like, I think I know who that is. And then I look at the thing and I'm like, oh, it's Olivia Wilde. She was, I think, so everyone's frozen at 25 or they're younger, but we only deal with a couple of kids. So pretty much everybody's 25. She was, I think, 26 or 27 at the time of this movie, and maybe 25 when it shot. Oh, sure. Unbelievable. She doesn't she doesn't really look hu human.

SPEAKER_02She looks too human, you know. You're just like she she looks god-carved, you know.

SPEAKER_03Okay, I first of all, thank you. I did really want to know. And that makes a lot of sense. It's weird. It's weird to me. I don't know why she's got a wig in both movies. They're both terrible wigs. She looks stupid in them. I don't know. It's bizarre.

SPEAKER_03Anyhow, sorry, back to the beginning of the movie.
SPEAKER_02But also, Olivia Wilder's a 25-year-old read. She does read as a woman as opposed to a 25-year-old. For sure. She's like, she's you're like, you you kind of vacillate. You're like, oh, when they say that he's her mom, you're like, yeah, I guess I could kind of get that, but then they're the same age. You're like, it it she's one of the people. She gives the vibe.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because all the other wives that show up are 25-year-old women that can't act like they're a woman.
SPEAKER_03Correct.
SPEAKER_02They all act like they're 25-year-olds.
SPEAKER_03Which is an interesting thing that this movie, not on purpose, does. They do this not on purpose. But people that are other than how do I say his name? Is it Killian or Cillian? I don't know. Killian. Killian. Yeah. Killian Murphy. He kind of gives the vibe that he's been around for a while. Yeah, he's a man. More than other people in the movie.
SPEAKER_02The other two dudes that they have with him make him seem like he's more of an adult.
SPEAKER_03Yes. But other than those characters, everybody else just kind of feels the same.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I guess Amanda Sayfried's character, he doesn't feel that much older. He just feels more like he feels emotionally responsible, more responsible. Sure. Yeah. I don't know that he I don't know that he seems older, but he does seem like he actually has he acts that he has more of an understanding of the world.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. You're yeah, which is also just kind of part of her upbringing rather than the age thing. You know what I mean? Yeah. Because she's coddled in her rich little Yeah. What is it? West Haven? West what's what are they called? New Haven? What's the fancy town? Uh New Hampshire. New Hampshire. No, I don't know. Greenwich. Greenwich. New Greenwich.

Great Cinematography Bad Design Choices
SPEAKER_03Um no, then there's monogamy. Mahogamy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like a wood. Mahogany is a wood. First of all, why are all those words so sick?
SPEAKER_02Why are the words why are the words that sound the same? I don't understand.
SPEAKER_03English is the dumb. Can you imagine trying to learn English? That would be so hard. Anyhow, it's bad, right? Yeah. All I was gonna say is it does, and I it shouldn't, but it does bother me that his voice is so high pitched. Um I don't know why, but I need it, I just need a little more grass. You know, I don't know. And the other than that, he's one, I think he does a great job in this in this movie. 80% of it.
SPEAKER_02I think he I think he does fine. I I don't think that they put the scenes in here for him to act in where we could see if he's acting.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. You know? Um, but that's the only thing that that takes me out of him a little bit. That's not his fault.
SPEAKER_02He's so pretty, but he's got a stupid voice. Okay.
SPEAKER_03It's not stupid, it's just not, you know.
SPEAKER_02Um, we set up that he used to fight for money, and fighting is where the it's kind of like arm wrestling where the two people sort of put their hands together and then they have like their clocks running, and then his dad taught him the trick where right at the end, when you're almost dead, it the other guy looks at that and then he gets excited or something, and then you could just turn, you know, go you could go over the top.
SPEAKER_03First of all, I mean the whole time I was thinking about over the top. What a great film. There's that's a 10 out of 10. You want an arm wrestling movie, go watch Over the Top with Mr. Stellone.
SPEAKER_02Well, if you want an arm wrestling movie, yes, go watch over the top. So if you want a 10 of 10 movies, do not do not consider that in the in the pantheon of DJ.
SPEAKER_03If you want to cry because it's so beautiful, go watch Over the Top. Um Yeah, no, it just doesn't make any sense, Dan. It doesn't because in every match, someone will go down to zero. So if you're telling me that you're telling me that people that are almost at zero give up, and that's why they lose? Because if they tried, they would just reverse the tie. It doesn't make any sense.
SPEAKER_02Well, they don't there's no explanation. Well, there's no explanation as to what it is. Is it willpower? Is that the whole thing? Oh, right.
SPEAKER_03The rules. Yeah, yeah. Nobody knows the rules of this time transfer thing. I have no idea. Because they it's yeah, I don't know. It's not a time-based thing because the transfers take about the same amount of time no matter how much money you're transferring.
SPEAKER_02Well, you see. So it's not there's sort of a but yeah, you can give a guy a hundred years and it takes the same amount of same amount of time. Five minutes.
SPEAKER_03So it's yeah, I don't know. I don't know how it works. It's not good. And it's silly.
SPEAKER_02And just by setting up that that you could do this, it takes any tension out of it, right?
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_02So we we don't ever you know, I mean, anybody that was big would just take all the time of everyone that was little. Why would they not? Right? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Which is why, you know, bad we're bad people, and that's why this movie was made, but they didn't get this point across very well.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you have to allow the person, you have to give it it has to be freely given, right? 100%. Here's this amount of time. Yeah. And so with that all being as mushy as it is, it never there's never contention, there's never drama based on the transfer of time and money. Never. Yeah. Never once. Even in the arm wrestling. Even in the arm wrestling. He goes out on the street, this little urchin girl runs up to him and is like, I'm an urchin girl, I'm an urchin girl, give me time. And he's like, Okay, here's five minutes. And you're like, What the fuck? Why'd you give her five minutes? She doesn't need it, she's got another 15 years till she's even on the clock.
SPEAKER_03Right before her clock even starts. Also, it's weird that you can even transfer to pe to underage people. Underage, that's a weird way of saying it, but like people that haven't started the clock.
SPEAKER_02Actually, you absolutely should not be able to transfer money to underage people because that would lead to all sorts of terrible things.
SPEAKER_03That's correct. Now, not where I was going with it, but that is absolutely correct. I just find it weird because the clock isn't working yet, but I can still add and subtract to it. First of all, how many parents are just gonna like take their kids' time and let them die from a lot?

SPEAKER_03Twice the amount of time I can steal. You need you need uh uh how much time do they get when they're 25? A year? I think they get a year, yeah. Yeah, so you put nine months of work in and then you get a year back. I mean, that's a pretty good give and take, right there.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, you could kind of get 25 years, don't I don't I don't know. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03It's anyhow. The whole thing doesn't make any sense. No, no, it doesn't make a lot of sense.
SPEAKER_02Uh coffee is four minutes, his best friend is Jimmy Kalicki. Um, and and Tony, why don't you talk about what Justin's job is? Oh, he pulls a lever?
SPEAKER_03Is that what he does?
SPEAKER_02He pulls a goes, ah he pulls a lever in a factory.
SPEAKER_03Do you think he's doing the other side of it is one of those fans? So he's like pulling down in the accordion thing and is blowing something. You know what I mean? Maybe that's the job. Maybe it's cooling metal. I don't, I don't know. His job doesn't make any sense. Do you know anything about jobs?
SPEAKER_02I mean, you're like, you're like in your your pampered existence of like, you know, uh changing photographs of videographs of like different fancy people. You're like, I think it's hard, man.
SPEAKER_03Okay, you gotta find the right picture. Dan, hold on, we gotta take a I'm not gonna give any names, but I got yelled at on Thursday so hard. I picked a picture that wasn't super flattering of somebody, and it went to air, and she was like, Why the fuck did you pick this picture? In the middle of our show, and everyone threw me out of the bus and like, well, our producer Tony does it. So she's like, Tony, what is going on? I was like, Oh my god. So it's hard, Dan. Okay, sometimes it doesn't go well. Oh, I didn't pick a picture. I picked a bad picture, apparently. I don't know. I thought it looked fine. Apparently, not everyone, everyone was mad.
SPEAKER_02So you didn't do it intentionally.
SPEAKER_03You weren't like I didn't do it intentionally. She's a fit, she was a very nice woman, but I just you know, I picked one and I went with it, and she was not happy about it. My bad. I apologized a lot. That's what happens when you're the producer, man. It's hard. It's hard, dude. It's harder than doing this. Ah, pulling a lever. I could pull a lever all day.
SPEAKER_02Okay, and uh, so uh he's leaving work. He missed his quota, so he gets an amount of money that is less than the amount of time.
SPEAKER_03So do you think that he just didn't pull the lever enough times?
SPEAKER_02Well, because other they rose through they've you know, you're supposed to pull the lever. They last week you had to pull it a hundred times, this week you had to pull it two hundred times.
SPEAKER_03So is he just doing the bare minimum? Because nobody else seems upset. So it feels like everybody else met their quotas, and he's the only person that was like, oh man, I'm so bored at this job. I'm not gonna do it right. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Um he goes to the he goes to the club, and there's some guys playing poker, and they're like, come on, sit in, let's play some games. And then he's like, No, no, I got important things, but you owe me a dollar, uh you owe me an day.
SPEAKER_03Oh, was it a day? Wow.
SPEAKER_02I don't know, a day or an hour, whatever. That's time. That's the thing, is you we don't care if it if we don't see the gradiations of what how important these are. And so he he extracts his money from this guy. Okay.
SPEAKER_03And then there's this range. So that way you know he's good at the pokering. Yeah. So that'll be important
The Gift Of Time And The Mom Scene
SPEAKER_03later.
SPEAKER_02So wait. So there's this this rich guy who's there buying drinks, and he's got a century. Is a century a hundred years or a thousand years? It's got a it's a hundred, right? It's a hundred years.
SPEAKER_03Wait. How many years is a century? Yeah, one hundred years. One hundred years. Because a millennium is a thousand.
SPEAKER_02Millennium, yeah. So he's throwing around money, and Will, Will, that's uh that's our guy. I think we hear this is when we hear his name. He goes, Will he goes over to him, his name is Will, Will Sallas. He goes over to him, he's like, hey buddy, you know, this is bad, they're gonna kill you, man. And you know, and and so then boom, the bad guys show up, the Minutemen, including the gangster Fortis, who and there's like the one guy with the hat that wears the hat like that, like it might have worn in 2011. You better believe it. What what do you think of the the the Minuteman the Gangsters?
SPEAKER_03I don't like them. I don't think any of them are particularly like they're the weakest actors of the bunch, in my opinion. Yeah, they really are. And cause but they kind of need to be the opposite of that, because I need to be intimidated by them a little bit. Yeah. Uh otherwise, every time they show up, I'm like, ugh, these losers. I'd like to be a little scared, like, oh shit, these guys mean business, but you never get the I mean business from them.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So they they come in and they're all like, we're gonna take your take your time. And the guy's like, can I just go barf first? So they're like, sure, go barf.
SPEAKER_03First of all, why would you let him leave the room? That's so weird. That's a bad, but if you're there to kill somebody or rob them, don't let them leave the room. Because there's a good chance they're not coming back. I don't know if you've never seen a movie before. He's not coming back.
SPEAKER_02So Will smashes the guy that's guarding him in the bathroom, they go out the back.
SPEAKER_03How did he do this? He he he pushed the door really hard. It smacked into his face. Where was he? He's hiding. In the stall where the guy was vomiting? No, he's around the corner. I'm just I'm confused on the layout of the bathroom, I think.
SPEAKER_02Standing on the toilet, you know? Because people are always like looking at checking underneath, no feet, no feet, no feet. What the hell? I don't know what that's. Uh-oh, what happened? I just got some weird email. Free battleship wallpaper. What the fuck does that mean? That's awesome!

SPEAKER_02So he helps the guy, they run out. The guys have a car. The cars, whenever they open the doors, if they're enclosed cars, they go like they're like they're vacuum-packed.
SPEAKER_03But they just look like cars.
SPEAKER_02Oh, the one looks like the ugliest Cadillac ever from like the 1990s with the weird, the weird luggage thing. It's like literally one of my least favorite vehicles ever produced by human beings. And I'm like, this car you choose, and then the the cops have these kind of rumbly cars, and then he buys this really nice silver car which they destroy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Very disappointing.
SPEAKER_03It's weird because his head is above the windshield in that car, and then he tumbles down a hill. I think he's decapitated. Just not to not to jump ahead in the story at all.
SPEAKER_02Well, it seems like with your genetically modified body, you're kind of immune to damage because the cop gets shot.
SPEAKER_03It does kind of feel that way, doesn't it? And everyone's like, well, uh, except for an extreme act of violence, money is the only way I die, basically. So I don't totally understand the rules of everything.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I think they're kind of impervious. I think that's sort of built into the thing. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Alright, well, that's dumb.
SPEAKER_02Um so they go into this one thing and then they're able to hide, and um they're able to hide in this, you know, upstairs. Just like a regular warehouse. Yeah, it's that's empty, and you can just get in there and okay.
SPEAKER_03I mean the way this is Matt Bomber. We didn't we didn't say that, but Matt Bomber Beautiful. Who is that? Um uh White Collar on USA. You don't watch USA shows, but that was like his big thing. And then he just did a show last year or two years ago with Nathan Lane called Palm Springs. No, mid-century modern is what it was called. Oh, he was on Palm Springs.

SPEAKER_02When you see funny people, they're just funny people. And then you see other people trying to be funny people next to the funny people, and you're like, well. It's tough.
SPEAKER_03Which is that perfectly describes that show. It's Nathan Lane, a gem, and then you know, the other two dudes are just trying their best. And our relationship. Oh wow, Dan, don't say that about yourself. So he turned it around on you.
SPEAKER_02I didn't see that one coming. Boop. Um, Henry Hamilton. He's he's a super rich guy. So basically, they they have a big old talk. Um, I'm 20. He doesn't. I'm 105. He's he's he's tired of it. He's like, they won't let us die.
SPEAKER_03It's like, actually, they will just let you die. Yeah, they don't they'll take your money, no problem. Sorry, years. They'll take your time, no problem. It doesn't mean his whole speech doesn't really make any sense. And at one point he says, Do you have the whole speech? I'm sorry, am I stepping on your toes?
SPEAKER_02No, that it I broke down a bunch of lines. It doesn't mean it doesn't add up to anything.
SPEAKER_03So one of them is is like uh your body's good, but your head is bad, or something. I don't did I get my clothes? I didn't write that.
SPEAKER_02Maybe I should have let you read all your quotes. I skipped that one. We live too long, we can't live together, prices go up, death goes up, no one has to die.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, too big to fail. Right. And so that part's not true, right? Nobody has to die. They sure do. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, if you're all genetically modified to live forever, then somebody's gonna have to die because you only have. X amount of resources. So yeah, somebody does have to die in this situation.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so it does make any sense. And then that's kind of the premise of the movie because later that's Justin Timberlake's closing line is uh nobody should live forever if even one person has to die. And I was like, this doesn't make sense. You're right, no one should live forever. Full stop. I'm on board with that part. Uh, but not because some people would have to. That's just how resources work. You can't infinitely grow. If somebody's really funny, they should probably live forever. Dan, stop pitching yourself for living forever, okay? It's not gonna happen, dude.
SPEAKER_02Um sign me up, everybody. Um, in the morning, he gives Will all of his time, a hundred years except like uh five minutes. Five minutes, yeah. Goes out to the LA Bridge, and then when he he finally dies, and then he he falls into the river.
SPEAKER_03Um one of my two biggest laughs of the movie. Because the LA River, not deep, right? So he just basically splats on the ground, and that's pretty funny. Um, I'm jumping off a bridge, and nope, it's just concrete, brother.
SPEAKER_02You gotta love that we've gotten to the point where you can make a dummy that makes that fall look really good. The fall looked really good. Looked really good.
SPEAKER_03This fall looked great, very real. The car later is a little car? It was a little toy. It was a toy, wasn't it? It was a little matchbox car, for sure, without a doubt. Forced perspective and a little matchbox car rolling down a hill. Sorry, that's not gonna cut it. Okay, that's not good. I paused it several times in that role. I was like, yep, that's a matchbox car. Hot wheels, baby. Uh ridiculous. Very, very funny. But this body file looks great.
SPEAKER_02It's great, yeah. It's a great fall.
SPEAKER_03This looked intense.
SPEAKER_02Oh, wow. Good job. Um uh jumps into the LA River or dives into the L River. Um, so he's got a hundred years, so he's gonna freak it out. He goes to see his buddy Jimmy Golecki and his wife Greta and their new baby, and he's like, Hello, how long have we been friends? He's like, 10 years. Okay, first he's only got a hundred years, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, not that many.
SPEAKER_02Instantly gives away 10 years.
SPEAKER_03That's 10% of your wealth. Let's think about that for just one second. 10% of your net worth. Well, for me, that's you know, a hundred bucks maybe at best, but there if that's a lot of money. That's a lot of your time. That's a lot of things. 100% is crazy. Yeah, yeah. Here's 10% of my retirement. Uh no thanks. No thanks. Uh, here's I we didn't talk about Galecki before. Um, but I just wanted we are in a world, right, where everyone freezes at 25 and it seems like everyone's beautiful. Everyone we have met until we meet Galecki is beautiful, including Galecki's wife. Gorgeous. Yeah, very good. Well, Galecki looks like trash, it's ever you say how did he make the cut? Oh, because he's a friend of somebody. No, no, I understand. I'm talking about in the world. It feels like we've called all the ugly people in the world and we've gotten rid of them. But somehow Galecki made the cut. It's very weird. Um, it's a bit jarring. He's I'm she's a fine actor. I'm sure it's fine, but I just I had to laugh because he's the only not attractive person in the whole movie, I think.

SPEAKER_03They did try and hire all attractive people.
SPEAKER_02They did a good job at that, other than so he throws in the 10 years, and immediately as soon as Will leaves, he's like, Gotta go to his wife.
SPEAKER_03What a piece of shit. I'm glad, I'm glad he dies. Spoiler alert. Uh, also, nobody has cell phones. Yeah, well, they don't exist, you know, because you don't need them. You don't need them.
SPEAKER_02This is the future, so they exist. They just don't act.
SPEAKER_03Well, we got rid of them. You see what I'm saying? So, like, we don't need to talk to people anymore because you're living in a tiny district? I don't know. Because they, well, that's not true. They use a payphone, and which is now that I think about it, crazy. Interesting. Who are you calling a payphone? Right. Calling another landline?
SPEAKER_02Nobody's gonna be there, everybody's gonna be working. Uh well, they gotta make that money. Years time. So here's it's nighttime now. Uh Livia Wilde, his mom has to go meet him somewhere, and he's gonna have flowers for her for some unknowable reason. Don't know how they do it.
SPEAKER_03It's her birthday. Oh, it's her birthday. Yeah, they're gonna celebrate her birthday afterward.
SPEAKER_02But they like live together, right?
SPEAKER_03That's correct. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got one wrong and one right.
SPEAKER_02You don't know where she is. She's somehow, she's two hours away, she's gonna take the pay some debt or something like that.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, maybe she went to pay the debt. Something like that. I don't know why it's so far away, and why you can't just like my landlord does electronic deposits, right? I don't know why you don't think that's a thing in the future. You just go boop, boop, and then it sends it somewhere. Come on.
SPEAKER_02Um, so somehow she's two hours away, but the buses cost two hours. She only has an hour and a half. I mean, she doesn't know that he has this hundred years or 90 years.
SPEAKER_03No, no, she's done. She's dead. Like he went to work, so maybe they're gonna split his work payment for the eight dollars. I don't know. Why did she go to work? Great quote. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02What's she doing? Well, she's doing I mean, what are you doing? Right?
SPEAKER_03Nobody knows. I mean nobody knows.
SPEAKER_02They they they they talk about the sex trade a little bit, but ninety percent of the people in this place would be in the sex trade. Period. I mean, anybody poor would be trying to do the sex trade until they died because that's the only way you're gonna and you know, if I looked like Justin Timberlake, yeah, I would. Yeah, you'd be paying yourself. Um can I do that? I mean, but I guess if everybody's hot, there is no sex trade, really.
SPEAKER_03I can yeah, maybe. I don't I don't know. Well, there is, but you're right, she's not that attractive, though. Not she's not ugly, she's not glectic. Because there's one, there was one prostitute that they do a little bit. Yeah, that offers herself to Mr. Murphy. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. It's it's weird. But she also is like, I'll give you 10 minutes for an hour. That's there's no way I'm paying an hour for 10 minutes. Get out of here.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that seems unfair. Um, okay. So she's like, he the bus driver's like, you can run, it's two hours. Like, two hours. So she starts running, and then eventually he re-tus shows up, and then he's like, She's not here, so he starts running in the opposite direction. So here we have these two people running towards each other, and she's like, looking at her time, looking at her time, and then she dies and just goes donk, leaps into his arms, but she donks, she kind of stips, stiffs around donk, and sort of like you know, get kind of the freeze frame, and then she's she's dead in his arms, and then he he cries. Um he he has the wail of anguish.
SPEAKER_03Anguish! It's very loud and and it's not organic. We'll just I'm not gonna comment because I am a terrible on-screen crier. We all know that I've talked about it, but he's also not good, so you know, as well as it is.

SPEAKER_03You can't make the tears. Because obviously, I'm not a terrible on-screen crier because I convinced them to give me a commercial where I was supposed to cry. But then when they realized in the close-up that there were no tears, they were like, Um, can you make the water? And I was like, I cannot. So sorry. So then we had to do the first they did the thing where they blow the menthol into your eyes, which burns, but my tears still didn't come, but they made my eyes all red. And they were like, Oh shit, now I gotta do drops to unred them. And then they had to do drops that leak out of your eyes, and that's how we got tears for that commercial. There's a little behind the scenes for it. Anyhow, what was he saying? Jackson Tamber, like, not a great cry.

SPEAKER_02Okay. This movie Because it's follow the money. I get that. Yeah. This continues to this movie is terrible. And now we're gonna finally, we're an hour into the show, we're gonna finally explain why this movie is terrible in addition to all the other things.

SPEAKER_02When you live in a police state, which this is a police state.

SPEAKER_02You live in a police state. There's cameras everywhere, they camera you, you can't get away with things. You can't say, like he does when they look at the cameras of what happened on the bridge. Oh, we don't have what happened five minutes ago.

SPEAKER_02So we we we quickly, their police data is terrible. Um, anybody either supposedly bodyguards and protections, those don't ever work. They're worthless. Uh people can just buzz themselves. Howie Tony, you work someplace real. Thank you. Thank you for acknowledging. Dan Dan Goodsell is like I'm cruising down the sidewalk outside your building. I walk up to your building. Can I just open the door and walk in?
SPEAKER_03You cannot. Sometimes I can't open the door, and I have to call them and be like, hey, my badge isn't working. And they're like, Oh, don't worry, you're not fired. We just deactivated it on accident. So it it's a thing. You can't walk into buildings. You sure can't.
SPEAKER_02You can't go places, you can't do anything. And this is and that's our world, which is especially stupid. Right?

SPEAKER_02And when people do break into buildings and do things, they f they have to figure out which you know, they have to wait for a person to come up there. And like good movies, that's what they do, because that's the way that shows us what the character is smart and and resources.

SPEAKER_02But instead, this movie wants to like waste time with the characters not having sex.
SPEAKER_03It's like and now didn't know that was a real comb with that. Um I didn't know. Sometimes these things just happen. Yeah. Um in the case of this movie, not happen. Yeah, they do not happen, and then probably um are you telling me that this doesn't tell you who I am?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. If I if if I was a police state and I was keeping track of you, I'd know where all your time went. I'd know who went to who, and I would have cards.
SPEAKER_03If anyone contract to me right now, they can be like, oh yep, he bought a bunch of magic cards. Oh, look, he bought a bunch of Pokemon cards. He's an idiot. You know these things. We contract them. We can't lose that in the future. That doesn't make any sense.
SPEAKER_02They know if they know exactly how many times Tony gets takeout from McDonald's delivered to his house. From they're banking on that stuff. They know it from McDonald's and they knew it from Uber Eats.
SPEAKER_03Two different things. Have you ever had your credit card call you and be like, hey, we've noticed some unusual activity, and it's that you're not spending the same amount of money? And they're like, Did you lose your card? Do you need a new one? I'm like, no, I'm good. Oh, I just I'm broke right now. I need a break. Oh, because I don't spend like that. Yeah. I also I have a lot of great stories about me spending too much money. Did I tell you that the Burger King person knows me by name? Did they put your picture up on the wall? The Burger King drive-thru lady knows my name. I come up to the room, she's like, Oh morning, Tony. So it's good. I'm doing really well, is what I'm telling you.
SPEAKER_02It's and you know what? It's not just one fast food place, it's probably multiple fast food places that probably. Yeah, it's all the good ones, though, you know. Okay. All the time. Okay, so Will wants to burn down the system.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm so glad you ended that with a question mark. Because when did this part happen? Uh, did I miss the part where he got I understand his mom timed out and he's mad about that.
SPEAKER_02But it's but they didn't make nobody did it to his mom. Right. It wasn't like she didn't get cheated. He should be pissed at the bus company, right? He should be like, bus company's going down.
SPEAKER_03He should go steal the time from that bus driver, is what he should do. You know, let's sorry, that's rude. Eye for an eye is not okay. I get it. I just don't I don't know when he was like, Well, now I'm gonna dismantle the entire system uh because I'm a hero. I don't know what happened.
SPEAKER_02More importantly, with what tools? Well, you'll you're gonna find out what tools he has. His wrist.
SPEAKER_03It's a good tool. That's not his tool. What's his tool? His charm? His eyes.
SPEAKER_02His his ability to play poker.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. That did did he play poker? I guess he does say, I knew I was gonna win, but he doesn't elaborate on that. He's not like, oh, you have a tell. Most times, I will say, in most movies where someone beats another person in poker, they're like, oh, you you rub your ear when you lie in this movie. No, just JT was just like, I knew I was gonna win. I cheated. So he didn't cheat, he just knew he was gonna win. That sounds like cheating to me. You can't know you're gonna win. You can think you're gonna win, you can't know you're well, because counting cards has got to be cheating.
SPEAKER_02Or maybe he's a he's a a close-up magician. Close-up magic. Um, okay, so he calls a car, car comes and picks him up and takes him from the downtown to uptown.
SPEAKER_03And he has Well, we only see this one time. There's nobody else on the road. It's all weird.
SPEAKER_02Well, more importantly, at each thing there's like these big concrete things that come up.
SPEAKER_03We never see those things again. Nope, nope, definitely not. It's it doesn't make any sense. Very silly. And it costs a lot of time to get to New Greenwich.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Well, you have to go through like five or six, or maybe even ten zones, and you have to pay each zone. Each zone's like, okay, now you pay it a month. Hold on a second. The toll is a month?
SPEAKER_03That's a big toll.
SPEAKER_02That's a big toll.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So he gets he gets a fancy place. I think he eats a meal, he eats too fat. Oh no, he gets uh he sees Sylvia somehow, or she sees him. We're never quite.
SPEAKER_03He's literally just getting into a car and she turns around and is attracted to him, I think. Which he wouldn't be because there's hot guys everywhere. That's true, but he is pretty hot.
SPEAKER_02He gets a hotel suite. Um cops still searching for him. He has he's having breakfast. Uh Sylvia's watching him, Amanda Sayfried, who's the the female lead. Then there's a super hot waitress who he tips a week.
SPEAKER_03That's so much. That's so much. So much. She didn't eat and she barely cared. Not that she, you know, oh, she just has to flirt with him or whatever, but like she she just took that in stride. A week feels like a lot to me. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Um the cop figures out who he is and says, I knew his father. Yeah, why is the father storyline in here? So we can explain why he's a Robin Hood, because his dad was also a Robin Hood. Was he? And tried to tweet. Tried to upset the system.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. He did. I know that he tried to upset the system. But we never really get specifics.
SPEAKER_02Oh, because he gave away time. He did the he did the arm wrestling and then he gave away.
SPEAKER_03And then he was giving away the winnings. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_02And that pissed everybody off for no known reason.
SPEAKER_03It's his time. Can't he do whatever he wants with it? Oh, but that might break the system. I don't think so. Just throwing that out there. I don't think. Even the end of this movie, I have questions about, but we'll get there.
SPEAKER_02Um, for anyone thinking that they could break the system, you can't break the system. System's too big.

SPEAKER_02If it's a very and that's why this is the micro versus macro. In a micro system, you could break the system because, you know, like in Logan's Run, there's only like 20 or 30 sand men, right? So you're only there's only 20 or 30 people after you. We can take them out.

SPEAKER_02You can take them out. And that's the whole thing is, you know, when you're, you know, mutiny on the bounty, you know, when you're out on the high seas and there's the the evil captain.

SPEAKER_02He better keep control, or he's gonna lose control, and boom. But then once you get back to Davy Jones locker. When you get back to no, it's not Davy Jones locker. When you get back to port, then they they just throw you in jail. You lose.

SPEAKER_02You're gonna lose the system's not the whole system's not gonna lose. You may maybe in the micro you can have an effect on the system, but the city yeah, we lose. We do, we do lose. We lose a lot. So he goes to the casino, it costs a year to go in the casino. He's playing poker, he meets Philip Weiss, who is the father of the heroine. Um there's a big pot, and they talk, and then he's only got four seconds left. So so they talk and then he wins based on nothing.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so it's weird, right? So the rich guy bets 250 years. I don't remember exactly what he puts in, but he puts in a lot, and then basically Justin Timmer like is I'm all in. This is not the same as going all in with money, because if you go all in, you're dead.
SPEAKER_02Well, but but the other guy the other guy made the bet, which left him with like 20 seconds. Yes, yes, but he calls.
SPEAKER_03He he can't generally call. And that's crazy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and so so he he he wins by by getting uh uh not a straight. Uh yeah, it was a straight, right? So he gets straight on the river, and he says, I knew I was gonna win. How? It's a straight.
SPEAKER_03I got no idea.
SPEAKER_02Because he had the other guy had pocket queens, and it's like, well, yeah, if you have pocket kings or pocket aces, okay. You're done.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Oh, sure. But if the other guy had pocket trips, you're done. I don't it doesn't make any sense. It makes zero sense. And also they're having this conversation while Justin Timberlake is watching his clock countdown, and he doesn't ever go, hey, maybe, maybe let's wrap this up. I'm running out of time. Did I win or did I not win? Just tell me so I can put this. I don't know. It's we I would be freaking out. I'm at three seconds, and he's just calm and chill as a cucumber. Don't make no sense.
SPEAKER_02But and I guess that's where real acting has to come in, right?

SPEAKER_02He has to be sweating. He he doesn't even care. He I he doesn't even act like he cares that he's gonna die.
SPEAKER_03Almost never once in the whole movie, to be honest with you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. He gets the money, he meets Sylvia, they're like, come to my party. Okay, come to the party. Um, he goes out the next day and he buys a car. How much does that car cost?

SPEAKER_02So whatever. Um, boom, boom, boom, he goes to a party, all hot people. There's like three hot women, um, two of whom can't act. Um and then Chloe, who she could kind of there's like a few things, a few lines that she delivered that were fine. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like if she was crazy, I think this movie would have been better. I buy that. Yeah. So boom, they party, they they do some dancing, and then they they say the middle part of the town is called the ghetto. Which I'm like, no, don't do that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um The clock is bad. They go outside.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, this is this is the best.
SPEAKER_02What's the best? Tell what happens. Tell them what happens.
SPEAKER_03They don't go in the ocean. She's she's never been in the ocean. No. And let me let me tell you something. This is the first part of the movie where I'm like, yes, a hundred percent. Because the ocean's dangerous, okay? And we do not respect it like we should. There are sharks, there are jellyfish, there are things that we probably haven't even discovered yet down there. So you stay out of the ocean to stay alive. I was watching this video of a sea spider.
SPEAKER_02The sea spider What the fuck is a sea spider? I don't like land spiders. Imagine a spider, but the legs are really long and look like they're made out of glass.

So this is the one part of the movie where I was like, finally, someone is right. This movie is 100% accurate. So they go in the water and I So then they go in the water. Yeah, bunch of idiots.
SPEAKER_02Um, did they kiss or did they not kiss?
SPEAKER_03I think they were going to kiss, and then the dad calls to them. The bodyguard calls to them. Sorry, yes, the bodyguard, right? Um, I will say visually, I love this scene.
SPEAKER_02Oh, see, you see, you can look past all the dumbness and say this is a good looking scene.
SPEAKER_03It does because I'm thinking, I'm thinking like Deacons right now, right? And Deacons is reading the script and he's like, boy, this doesn't make any sense. But I know exactly how to make this look beautiful. You made me spit up. And he does, it looks great. I mean, obviously the arms are brighter than they are normally, which is fine. But it looks real, it actually does look cool. It looks so cool. I I assume it was just like a glow stick that they like attached to the arms or something. And like it illuminates the face. It's beautiful.
SPEAKER_02I mean and what if this had actually been a sexy scene?
SPEAKER_03If this had been a sexy Dan, I would have my heart would have been pumping. If this was beautiful and sexy, I mean that's unbeatable combination.
SPEAKER_02And yet, beautiful people. What are we doing? Was it was it sexy, Tony?
SPEAKER_03No, it wasn't sexy at all. Okay, there was zero sexiness in almost this entire movie.

SPEAKER_03Can they just do that? Like, I I guess maybe it's the same as taking your possessions when you go into custody, I guess. But they just take all of his time but two hours.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they they I don't know, they they interrogate him, then they take all of his time, so they just leave him enough so that he can get booked. Yeah, and then what? Then he runs, but he also he takes Sylvia with him. So he's like, You're coming with me, and puts a gun to her head. They go, um, and they go across the bridge, and then they get hit by the armored No, no, no, they don't hit the the other guy, the cop hits the armored car, and then they hide out under the bridge.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then she she's low on time. Oh no, he asks her for time because he's she says no. She says no. Um, and then you were like, is he gonna time raper? He doesn't time rape her.
SPEAKER_03Doesn't, you know, because right still now he's a good guy. He hasn't done anything illegal yet, and then he decides in about 10 minutes, you know what? I'm just gonna turn to a thief. Even though I've been telling everyone, I'm not a thief, I'm not a thief at all. I'm a good person, and you're the bad people. And then he turns into a thief. But he found worse people. It's very confusing.
SPEAKER_02Did he? I don't know. Isn't that what he does? So boom, here they go. They're they're there, he's gotta find some time. Uh he takes off, and then he's driving, and then he hits a spike strip, which is on the edge, the the on the easement of the LA River, and then what happens, Tony?
SPEAKER_03If listen, do you remember the the alien movie? What which what is the movie? Mac and me, where he's going down the shopping cart thing. It's the funniest thing you've ever seen. This is the second funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. This car goes off the edge and tumbles down the LA River. But it is very clearly in real time, a matchbox car with forced perspective. It looks terrible. Worse. What's worse than terrible? It looks awful. Um and you're just supposed to believe that this is real. And it's it's just if you are doing a stunt and you don't have the money to make it look good, and you you paid someone to do this, right? They were like, hey, do this stunt, and they came back with that. And now you and me are in the editing room and we're watching our movie, and this scene comes up and we watch it. There's no way we sign off on it. You just say, you know what? We'll cut from when they go off to when they land. Nobody needs to watch the tumble because they'll get it, they understand. And the tumble just it takes you out of the movie. It's it's bad filmmaking. I'm sorry, it's bad. Well, why don't why don't Richard Richard Deacons fix it? I listen, I maybe he thought this was cool. Maybe this was a Deacons choice. I don't know. Maybe I'm losing respect for him. No, I'm not. Uh, but this look it looks really bad. If you honestly, if there's a way to just find that on YouTube, it's worth it. It's very funny.
SPEAKER_02So here come the the Minutemen, the bad guys, the gangsters. They like walk up and they steal all their time and then they hear hear something, and so then they leave. So they leave them with like five minutes each.

SPEAKER_02Um, they go to they've got like five minutes or fifteen minutes or thirty minutes. Oh, they've got thirty minutes each. They go to Jimmy Galecki's, and there's the wife, and this is what she says. He's been gone like about a day, maybe two days. If if that, yeah. He drank himself to death. He drank 10, he drank 10 years and two days.
SPEAKER_03Um so, and because I don't understand things, like did his liver fail? When someone says they drank themselves to death, that's usually where I go to is like the liver failure. But that's gonna take more than two days, right? But think so. Um so did he just did he drown? Because I know if you drink too much water, you can technically drown.
SPEAKER_02So what they what they she should have said is he got drunk, he went out on a boat and he drowned.

SPEAKER_03Well, but even so, my thing is it doesn't feed the story. If he had been murdered for the time that Justin gave him, that's more fuel for dismantling the system, right? Like, oh shit, I sh I gave this guy time and he's in a dangerous place, and someone stole his time because time is what we need. Well, the system is bad, but this is just yeah, well, he was a piece of shit. You're right. He was unattractive and not a good guy. So it's it's good that he's dead. Well, there you go. He accepted stolen time, they took it all, he's dead. Sure, great, sure, okay. Something, something that makes me think, oh yep, we gotta get the system. We gotta get this system. This guy just went and drank himself away. That means nothing to me. Yeah, stupid. He has a baby that just makes him the worst guy in the world. Yep. And that doesn't make me want to fight the system, it makes me want to fight his dead corpse.
SPEAKER_02So they got no time. They're like, what are we gonna do? And then they realize she has diamond earrings. They run to the pawn shop. The pawn shop is closing for life.

SPEAKER_02They're putting the they're putting the you know the the thing that closes off at the gate. He puts his foot under it, and then she throws the diamond earrings under the door. Tony, what would you do?

SPEAKER_02So I guess they asked for the money via payphone, and then they're looking out the window, and then they see everybody waiting at the mission to try to get some time, just wander off, and so that proves that it happened?
SPEAKER_03Because there's a sign that says time or out of time, similar to like vacancy, no vacancy on a hotel, and it opened and it was already out of time. So everyone went home, and that was where they were telling them to wire the wire. I don't know how those are.
SPEAKER_02Oh, they were gonna give the money to the mission, and if the mission had time, so it he didn't give the money.
SPEAKER_03He did not give any money because the dad does not care about this girl at all.
SPEAKER_02See, I thought that he gave the money, and so all those people waiting in line looked at their things and were like, Oh, we got money, so we can leave.
SPEAKER_03Oh, mm-mm. Oh, no, no, no. He did not give the money, and that's why JT uh makes the excuse. He's like, Oh, the timekeepers would have never let him do it. That's why he didn't do it. And she's like, Don't sugarcoat it. He doesn't love me. You know, that sort of thing.
SPEAKER_02Got it. So they go back to the payphones. He like gives her a gun so nobody hurts her because he's got two guns.
SPEAKER_03And then he's right across the street. Who's gonna hurt her? I'm so confused. He doesn't like let her loose in the I don't know. It's very strange.
SPEAKER_02So he sits down on the curb to watch her call. I don't know why he's sitting down.
SPEAKER_03Um sometimes standing is a lot. I get it. I sit down anytime I can.
SPEAKER_02I know. I almost sat down in the middle of my walk today. I was like, I was like, I don't feel good. And then I was like, and then I realized it was all gas.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's good. That's always a good thing to figure out because otherwise it could be very scary. We have a bench, uh bus bench, like three blocks away. SPEAKER_03She is crazy, and they she remains crazy, but they never play into it.

If they're gonna mob and kill him, then they should just do that. And then his partner has to rescue him. That's fine. Like, I'd be fine with that, but there's just nothing to it.
SPEAKER_02It's like it's like half-measure scenes where it's like, well, we don't really have the money to have a fight or to do something to you, but we're gonna we're gonna imply that something could have happened.
SPEAKER_03Could have. Oh, it's dangerous, dangerous territory, but he's fine, so it's okay.
SPEAKER_02Now we're gonna have Tody's favorite scene in the show. They're in the cop car, they gotta get rid of the cop car, so they stop another car, a limo, and there's a rich lady in the limo, they pull her out and they steal her jewelry. Who was the rich lady?
SPEAKER_03Oh, wait, that's a person? Should I know them? Oh no, I wasn't paying enough attention.
SPEAKER_02Who is it? It's the the director's wife again.

SPEAKER_02I don't I didn't really look it up, but I'm 90% sure that it was his wife.
SPEAKER_03No, I totally believe it. That's so good. Yeah. Hey, he loves her. He loves her guy. He loves her so much. Yeah. Um, that's hilarious. Yeah, she won't she weren't good. So that makes perfect sense. Yeah. Also, it's a very funny scene. So all good, good stuff all around. 10 out of 10.
SPEAKER_02Oh, actually, they're gonna have the one line I liked in the movie. Uh news report, you know. They okay, they have their Bonnie and Clyde, so you know, most dangerous people alive. Boom, puts their pictures up on the on the screen together, you know, they're sort of mugshots, and and what's her name says, We look cute together. Because she's crazy.
SPEAKER_01Crazy.
SPEAKER_03Like she's a line. It's a great line, but low-key, they need they need to lean into this craziness a little bit more because she is hungry for it. She loves what's happening, and he doesn't, and that should cause some friction at some point, and it doesn't. Um they have a make out session.
SPEAKER_02I think they did it. I think they actually did it. I think so. Yeah, then they go and park between these two trees that don't obscure anything and just make it look like you've parked a car in between two trees really randomly. Well, it's shaded, you see.

SPEAKER_02And then she teaches her gun and she's like, and she's like, Why did you shoot what's his name? And she's like, says, I wanted to shoot something. Right.

Bank Robberies And Accidental Robin Hood
SPEAKER_03Um, it was really easy. Oh, really? Shocking. Shockingly easy. Um, so what happens is they somehow, we I guess we don't actually know this, but they stole a truck. No, and it's they stole an armored car. An armored, yeah, the armored transport for these which, as we know, they leave laying around everywhere. All the time. Yeah, yeah. That's they're the easiest things to thieve. That's what they say. It's uh it's a uh a pandemic what anyhow. It's an epidemic? That was the word. But I couldn't think of it. You're going with pandemic. Okay. Yeah, I was going pandemic. I was like, that's not right, don't say it. Um so they they stole an armored vehicle, which we don't get to see because that would be very difficult. And then they just drive it through the front door, and then they open the vault.
SPEAKER_02Yep, vault's open. They and they just they take a bunch of time and then they give everybody else.
SPEAKER_03Let everybody else take some. Um what this doesn't make any sense. This is this is very strange. If it's that easy to rob a bank, everyone would be doing it.
SPEAKER_02So then they give the mission guy some time. The minute the minute man, the gangsters are pissed because it kind of messes with their situation, which it doesn't really. Wait, shouldn't it just be easier for them to take more time?
SPEAKER_03It's it certainly should, because they're not stealing from the bank. They it's not like JT stole from them. No, he stole from the government with the banks. I'm sure it's insured with life. I don't understand. Uh sure. But like, I I why are they upset? More crime is never a bad thing. No, right? Gives them more cover. I don't know. Exactly. Like, wait, we didn't do it. It must have been those guys. Yeah. I don't know. It's very strange. Yeah. What was also strange is when JT went to the mission and was giving him the money. Yeah. Or the time. I keep saying money. I know I say money too. Was giving him the time, he was wearing a bandana like a thief. But when they robbed the bank, neither of them were covering their faces. Why is he covering his face with the mission, dude? Who probably already knows him? Of course, knows his face. Like, what are you talking about? Very strange.
SPEAKER_02Um, then they go back to his room and then they they're playing poker and then they undress. Oh, they're playing strip poker?
SPEAKER_03Is that what she just randomly says I'd rather play strip poker and then takes her clothes off. That's what I remember. Is they're just playing regular poker and she's like, you know what? I'd like to be naked. She's a little, she's a little unhinged. Very pretty, though.

SPEAKER_02The Minutemen start executing people till they get somebody to tell them where Will is. They find him, they bust in, and they're all like, Well, we're gonna take all your time, but we're not. We're gonna give you a fighting chance, just like we gave no one else in the entire movie.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, well, he's special. Okay, he's a special little boy, so we need to treat him differently. Uh yeah, super weird. They come in with guns, and then the the main guy just puts his gun away and says it'll be a fair fight, don't worry.
SPEAKER_02So we do the most, the tense, the most least might fight with the least amount of tense ever put on film.
SPEAKER_03Sure. Yeah. Calling it a fight is um very insulting. And they say it a bunch in this movie. They keep calling it fighting. Guess what? It's not fighting. Okay. I'm sorry. There's no world where this is fighting, it is so dull. And he does exactly what he says. And guess what? Even watching it still doesn't make any sense because he's just his arm counts down, and then the guy looks at it, and then somehow he reverses and the guy can't stop it. I don't understand.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Uh the other bad guys wait there while he steals all of the time, and then he Well, it's a fair fight, Dan. They can't get involved. He reaches into his boot, pulls out a gun, bang, bang, bang, kills three guys. I liked that. I like I was great. I did not expect that. What it should have been was because I think he do he kills them after he's killed the other guy, right? No, no.
SPEAKER_03He is it's getting close, but it's still happening. And he shoots, shoots, shoots, and then that guy runs out of time.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay. So that's okay. I'm okay with that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, no, it's great. It's it's great. I wish it would have been better if he stole the gun off of one of the guards. The guards were here, and he's doing that, and he just reaches over, grabs it out of the belt, pow, pow, and then kills the other guy. But it's fine. It's fine. I would totally let someone reach down to their side while they're in a fight like that. It's fine.

SPEAKER_02Okay. Uh he puts the bodies, he drags the bodies out to the street and lays them out.
SPEAKER_03Did he do that? Or does the police do that? Either way, it's weird. It's not, it's not what you would do no matter what. But it's very strange that they're just on display in the street.

From Dayton, because at the end of the movie, spoiler alert, they do get the million years and he distributes it to everyone, and then they're all moving to New Green Greenwich? That doesn't make any sense. Just a million years. Well, right, like divided up by I have to assume a million people. But I guess the I guess Well, even if even if it's a hundred thousand people, that's ten years. Right? Right, that's not that much money. It costs that much just to go there. I so I a million is just not that much. You just get all the money back in tolls. Right. This really worked out for all of us. Great job, everyone. Really, really nicely done. Tolls were a good idea. Tolls, right? It's so weird. Yeah, a million in LA, we would that's not even enough money for one person.

SPEAKER_02We got these, they uh the store has these good little mini pies. Mini pies really small, really small. And they had them on the used bread, you know, the cart where it's like old bread. Yep. I I always used bread. I always buy those. They were like 60 cents each. That's a good deal. They're pretty good.

I mean, unless you're literally prying it out of the hands of somebody. Um typically stealing is determined by court.

I thought that they were gonna try and say if you get at a certain distance, you the clocks turn off, or you know, because that was the thing in Logan's Run, you have a little thing on your hand that goes blinky, blinky, blinky, blinky. But then when they when they leave the dome, turns off. So they're out of the system. So I was like, are they running towards out of the system? I don't know.

SPEAKER_02They're just running to a random area that doesn't make sense.

SPEAKER_02So Killian Murphy chases them in his car and stops, he gets out, he runs over there, and for some reason, in the midst of chasing them, he didn't get his daily time, so he just dies.
SPEAKER_03Yep, just falls over dead. Ah boy. Really love a nice anticlimactic ending, don't you?
SPEAKER_02And then they're running out of time, so they run to his car and they steal his time.
SPEAKER_03And it's not voice activated at all. There's no like security code. As long as you're in the car, you can just get the cops time. That doesn't make any sense. There's no security in this world.
SPEAKER_02That's what I was watching. I was watching the Watchman TV show. Oh and what's his name? Did the music for that. And the music just makes everything better. If you were to turn that music off, you'd be like, this is a lesser show. Got it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_02It makes you know, she's just like driving a car through the city streets, and with the proper music, it's exciting. If it doesn't have music, you're just somebody's driving a car.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And that's why, like at the end of this, if they maybe it had music cues that were interesting and led to something, maybe it might add something.
SPEAKER_03It might yeah, I might I might be invested a little. It still wouldn't make a lot of sense, but I know what you're saying. I agree.
SPEAKER_02But immediately after that, there's a thing in in Watchmen where the police police do not have access to their firearms. They have to call in and get an interlock taken so that they can pull their guns out and use their guns. Because they have to make sure that the situation is enough to warrant gun use.

SPEAKER_02And in this movie, I can just get into his car and just ask for money. Just ask for money. Ask for money. Oh, did he ask for it? He did.

SPEAKER_03How would you know anything about what goes on inside a cop's car? You wouldn't know nothing.
SPEAKER_02I mean, and we watch cop car stuff all the time. It's like if I got into a cop car and trying to figure out how to make anything work, I'd be like, I don't know. Those are fucking complex things.
SPEAKER_03If I was stealing a cop car, I would get caught because I'd spend the whole time trying to turn on the siren. I wouldn't even drive anywhere. I'd just be like, no, before we go, I need the siren. I don't know how to do it, but we need and then and then I'm done. I'm beat.

SPEAKER_02And she she told me this whole thing where they were like, they just show up in the middle of the night and they put them in your yard. I'm like, they they don't do that. I don't think that's a good thing. And what it what it really is is they they put them in like you know, on easements and you know, city land and or whatever weird land that they have some weird access to.
SPEAKER_03It's like next they can't just put it on next to the land you own next to people's houses. I'm like, well, like, oh, here's the perimeter line, we're gonna go right here.

SPEAKER_03I've and I'm just this is might be the last time I get to say this, but World Cup has been unbelievable. I think we have so much fun. Uh having a blast. Uh, but also NBA Summer League started this week. What a treat. Um Friday, Friday, Thursday, Thursday, Thursday the ninth. We had uh Wizards Jazz, the number one overall pick with the number two overall pick. Great game, super fun. Uh, I love summer league. What is summer league? Is that real? Real. It's where like the the rookies and the newer basketball player, they they do a little tournament in the summer before preseason. That does sound fun. It's very fun. Yeah, it's just showcasing your new talent, and people are trying to make the team. So like there's undrafted people that are in and they're trying to prove themselves worthy. It's very fun. Um, I love it.
SPEAKER_02I watched like a it little clip thing of the WNBA. Uh oh yeah. It's uh it's like professional wrestling at this point. I it's like dude, it's like fighting. It's basically sanctioned fighting. It's been getting out of control. They gotta they gotta start suspending these people because they're just like kill you. You're just like, this is this is not right. And they're letting these people do it to their superstars, and you're just like, Yeah, Caitlin Clark. You gotta protect your superstars because you will not have a league if you kill your superstars.
SPEAKER_03That is you are absolutely correct. It's it's very interesting right now.
SPEAKER_02But maybe that's what people are tuning into, is they want to see the blood sport. It's the drama, it's yeah, yeah. Well, people are messed up, all right. Um, I'm playing this new cell phone game called Cells, C-E-L-L-S, and it's a create, I think it's what it's called. That's what's the little that's what it said under the little icon. And you like basically it's like evolution, and so you like you buy like dinosaurs and then you grow dinosaurs, and then the dinosaurs get better at doing dinosaur stuff, and you know, you build human beings, and you you like there's a special thing that goes on for three days that's like clouds. It's clouds, huh? It's it's you know, it's it's all a thing to try to get you to pay for things to make things happen fast.

I watched it this week with Naomi.
SPEAKER_02Wait, I thought you saw it a couple weeks ago, no? No, no, Naomi saw it without she saw it.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so I knew she was like Yeah, it's not scary. And so when it came out this week, we were like, we gotta watch it. And I watched it and I don't get it. Okay, cool. Cool, cool, cool. So we're gonna we're gonna watch Obsession, we're gonna talk about it, we're gonna maybe piss some people off, but I think it'll be fun.
SPEAKER_02Okay, sounds good. I I I because the Red Letter Media guys, they watched Obsession, they watched Backrooms, and they watched Hokum. They liked they liked Hokum best.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02Um, but I've heard other people I someone else I know said somebody else online was like Hokum was terrible. So I you know, interesting. I'm gonna have to I'll see them all at some point.
SPEAKER_03Um maybe just throwing this out here because Naomi also saw Backrooms last night, and she was like, You're gonna want to hate watch that one as well. So maybe wait till it comes out. Just spoiler alert.
SPEAKER_02Wait, how did she watch backrooms? Did she see it on it's an on-screen?
SPEAKER_03She went to the theaters. Wow, look at her. She's got a she's got a friend that she goes to horror movies with because I refuse to watch horror movies outside of October like a decent human being. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_03You just don't see them in the theater because you don't want to cry. I don't want to see scared. I want people to know how scared I am and everything. It's so dark in the theaters. What is what am I gonna do?
