What happens when a movie starring Nicholas Cage as a flame-headed biker fails to ignite the same excitement as Iron Man? This week, we roll up our sleeves and prepare for Halloween with a critical and comedic review of the 2007 Marvel superhero film, Ghost Rider! We kick off by pitting Ghost Rider against Iron Man, marveling at the stark differences in quality, execution, and impact, even though they were released just a year apart. We take you through the wild ride of Johnny Blaze's transformation, the lackluster portrayal of the Devil by Peter Fonda, and the baffling transition from young Johnny Blaze to Nicholas Cage.

Prepare for some laughs as we highlight the absurdity of the plot and characters—from Johnny's implausible discovery of his father’s cancer diagnosis to the daredevil's contradictory stunts. We dive into the film's few redeeming moments, like the high-octane motorcycle jump set to "Crazy Train" and the introduction of quirky characters like Blaze’s manager, Mac, and the rain-emerging villain, Dark Duskman. We don't shy away from scrutinizing the dynamics of the elemental villains and poking fun at the odd interactions and props, such as Johnny Blaze’s “swagger stick” and Eva Mendez's character, Roxy's, lost demeanor.

As we bring our analysis to a close, we take a hilarious journey through Johnny Blaze’s epic motorcycle chases, his playful banter with Roxy, and the quirky elements Nicolas Cage brought to the character. We also touch on the film's chaotic narrative, jarring pacing, and the peculiar logic behind Ghost Rider’s abilities. Finally, we wrap up with some chatter about TV shows and movies, including the latest season of "Only Murders in the Building" and the new "Borderlands" movie. Join us for a rollercoaster of an episode filled with critiques, laughter, and reflections on this chaotic Marvel film.

Speaker 1:

We're going to do this show. Tony, you know I got extra. I did a whole extra page of notes on this one.

Speaker 2:

You love Nick Cage so much.

Speaker 1:

Oh my God, do I have six pages? I got six pages. You have six.

Speaker 2:

I have a page and a half what happened in this movie. I have two and a half pages, so a lot goes on in this movie. A lot goes on in this movie. Hey watching with Dan and Tony. Hey watching with Dan and Tony. It's like watching.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Welcome to hey Watching with Dan and Tony. I'm Dan, I'm Tony, and on this show we watch a movie, and the movie we watched this time was pre-gaming for Halloween, because Halloween's coming up. I picked the seminal Marvel superhero classic movie Ghost Rider.

Speaker 2:

Ghost Rider, did you just emphasize the H? Love that 2007.

Speaker 1:

I think it was an hour and 54 minutes. When do you think Iron man came out? When did Iron man came out? Look that up, Tony. Okay, yeah, because I was like, are you?

Speaker 2:

asking me to remember off the top of my head, because I want to say 2005, but I'm sure I'm wrong. It was way off, it's 2008. So it came out a year after they did this movie and they're like wow, marvel movies are great, let's make another one.

Speaker 1:

So, in other words, they paid $7 for the rights to make a Ghost Rider movie and then spent all the money.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, man, I mean what a difference a year makes. Can you believe that, from how Ghost Rider looks and feels to Iron man, I mean, wow, what a difference.

Speaker 1:

Ghost Rider is kind of like a TV show. That's it.

Speaker 2:

But like one that gets canceled midway through the first season.

Speaker 1:

Oh, you didn't like this movie.

Speaker 2:

I mean there were parts that I really enjoyed, but generally the parts I enjoyed weren't the Ghost Rider parts. I don't know if that's just me.

Speaker 1:

I have to say I was not disappointed. I was like, okay, there are things in this movie that you're just like do they know how to make a movie? Why does this feel like they don't know how to make?

Speaker 2:

a movie. They do not know how to movie. You know how to make a movie, they do not know how to move it.

Speaker 1:

You know how to move it. This feels like you know where they just they slide. You know a backdrop, you know in front of the camera, and then they're like okay, people do something.

Speaker 2:

They're like we're doing things.

Speaker 1:

I'm doing things, yeah. And then other parts. You're like, wow, I kind of like this. This is kind of interesting. Sure, yeah, I don't know if the guy that directed this went on to do anything else, but Should I look it up? Yeah, you're not quite sure. You're like should this guy be punished eternally? Should the Ghost Rider punish him eternally, or should the Ghost Rider give him a second chance? I don't know.

Speaker 2:

I don't know. I don't know either, and I can't wait to get to the end of this movie, because I'm really confused. Dan, you're confused. I'm confused. This movie kind of made sense Kind of. I mean, I thought it made perfect sense up until the final decision, where he's like you know what? I'm going to stay Ghost Rider, I'm just going to do that.

Speaker 1:

It actually doesn't make sense in the way that they've set up this movie to me.

Speaker 2:

He does get to the end and he's all like. You know it's a, it's a burden, but I'm gonna just keep being. I'm just in. I'm in now. You know this was pretty fun in the end. Like, what are you talking about, dude? You hated it the whole time. Um, the answer, damn, is no oh, did he go to tv? No, it does. No, so let me just let me break this. Oh shit, this guy. Okay, here we go, first directing simon birch. He did simon birch fine movie, right you don't know them.

Speaker 1:

That's a joke. Uh then daredevil 2003, oh wow.

Speaker 2:

Then they were like that went really well. Let's get another movie a few years later in ghost rider. Then he went to when in rome, that krist Kristen Bell rom-com. That's just awful, it's a movie. It's a movie. You know what? We'll probably do it on here for Valentine's Day. How about that?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we should do that for.

Speaker 2:

Valentine's Day and then did something called Killing Season, which I don't know. What that is Finding Steve McQueen in 2019. Like he took seven years off since finding Steve McQueen Something called Love Guaranteed Love in the Villa. I don't know. Are these Hallmark movies now? I don't know, but he only has eight directing credits total.

Speaker 1:

You know, someday we should meet one of these people.

Speaker 2:

We should get these people on the show, Dan. We should do interviews with these people and tell them how bad their movies are, but how much we enjoy them.

Speaker 1:

I'd like to meet someone that does something that's like this. And then you say to them what did you do for seven? How did you survive for seven years?

Speaker 2:

Because you're not getting millions of dollars after, like, what are you doing?

Speaker 1:

I mean, there's not tons of residuals pouring in from Ghost Rider.

Speaker 2:

I can't imagine. No, I can't imagine either.

Speaker 1:

So I'm always intrigued as to you know, are they doing second unit director stuff? Are they doing commercials?

Speaker 2:

I mean not according to IMDB. That's all I'm going to say. Well, commercials don't get listed on IMDB. But yeah, yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1:

It'd be interesting to hear from one of these people that did a big tentpole sort of movie and then just disappeared. It was seven years. Think about it. You make so much money on the movie, you're just sitting at home ordering pizzas every night for seven years I do that and I don't make any money on movies, so I get it.

Speaker 2:

Can you imagine if I did make a bunch of money, boy, would I do a whole lot of nothing.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you know, people pay Tony to work. It's just very confusing.

Speaker 2:

Not enough. Pay me more, guys. I want to do it.

Speaker 1:

Nicolas Cage as the Ghost Rider, you know, I think a little more inspired by the sort of 90s reboot of Ghost Rider. The motorcycle kind of looks like that one, which I never read, so I don't know what the basic plot was. I thought the plot was kind of interesting.

Speaker 2:

Which part of the plot.

Speaker 1:

Well, the idea is, the devil empowers someone with the ghostwriter power, right, and then that person is a spirit of vengeance who sort of. Well, there's two things. There's that, which is what the character probably did in the comic book, so they kind of get there by the end and you're like, okay, that makes sense. And then they also there's this whole setup in the movie where he's got to find this contract for a thousand souls and then has to hand that to the devil because the devil can't get it.

Speaker 2:

I don't understand any of that Sort of in a church, but also like Dan, is a thousand souls really even that many souls?

Speaker 1:

Doesn't seem like a lot of money.

Speaker 2:

If the devil's hustling, he could easily get more than a thousand souls a day just on Earth. So many more people than that die every day. I don't know. It's confusing.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to look that up and they also said that basically in the movie. If the devil doesn't get those thousand souls, that thousand souls is enough to tip it to the next guy.

Speaker 2:

Right, which, no, that doesn't make any sense. Listen to this how many people die each day in 2024? Boy, there's a lot of ads on this. In the united states alone, deaths per day is 8 341 on average. Oh well, that's in china, it's 31 000 a day. Just go to china, devil.

Speaker 1:

Just go to china, you're gonna get them, yeah but these souls were all like, these people were especially wicked.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they're angry souls.

Speaker 1:

You don't get that kind of wickedness.

Speaker 2:

Not every soul is built the same. That's the moral of this movie.

Speaker 1:

And the other thing about Ghost Rider is he's Johnny Blaze, it's his human form, blaze is his human form. And then when he becomes the Ghost Rider, he just becomes this sort of force and doesn't really think about things. He just knows what he's doing and so every time he sort of has to beat a bad guy, he's just like oh, you're a bad guy, I'll do this and that'll defeat you. And then he just does that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, there's no fight, which is weird, yeah, in the sense that there's no give or take in the confrontations.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yep, nope, he's just kind of like ah, I'm going to boil you. And now I boiled you.

Speaker 1:

I was like okay what is the point of this? As long as I have Ghost Rider powers, I'm just going to. But I mean, that's the way it sort of should be. That's the way it should be with supernatural beings, is that? You're not going to win. Human being not going to win.

Speaker 2:

Well, sure, sure Human being, but they should be a little more equal when they're both powered.

Speaker 1:

You know what I'm saying? That that's a, that's a choice you could have made it is a choice. I'll give you that I mean it would lead to longer fights, which would be more expensive and more interesting, I would argue.

Speaker 2:

But you know. But also, sometimes fights are too long, right, and if they're not good, then I complain. I get you, just can't win with me. All right, no one's ever won with Tony.

Speaker 1:

So we set it up. We got what's his name. Who's the? Oh Ruffman, what's his name.

Speaker 2:

Is that your Sam Elliott? Sam Elliott.

Speaker 1:

Sam Elliott plays the caretaker. He works in a graveyard and buries people, and he's also the narrator.

Speaker 2:

Which is confusing.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, because he knows everything. He does a whole legends and tall tales.

Speaker 2:

Legends are born.

Speaker 1:

And this is the legend of Ghost Rider. Right Okay, the Ghost Rider, right Okay, the Ghost Rider. Every generation, a damn soul, is chosen by the devil to be the Ghost Rider, which isn't the case at all.

Speaker 2:

Okay, yeah, it doesn't seem to be right, even in their own movie. Yep, it's very confusing. He sets up this whole mythology. That just isn't right from the beginning.

Speaker 1:

He says that there's one every generation, and then when he meets him, he's like there hasn't been one for 150 years.

Speaker 2:

You're like well, that's kind of lame, why?

Speaker 1:

I mean, I guess he is the old one, so maybe he has to quit or be retired for a new one to happen, for there to be a new one?

Speaker 2:

I mean, I guess. But then don't tell me that every generation there's a new one, because apparently you could just live forever. If you just decide not to do your one job and somehow the devil can't find you when you're just digging gray. It's all very murky. I don't understand the rules of it all, dan.

Speaker 1:

And the devil in this thing is Mesistopheles. But in I believe, that's what they called him. That's what they called him. I don't know what that is, that's just another way to say the devil. And then, on the Like, on the one page they said he was Mephisto, which is a different character.

Speaker 2:

Is that different? Yeah, different character, totally different guy. I thought maybe it was like a cool nickname that they gave him. You know no.

Speaker 1:

Mephistopheles and Mephisto different characters. I think I'm pretty sure they're different. I don't think that's a contraction of the other one.

Speaker 2:

I believe it. I don't know the difference.

Speaker 1:

So the first one is this caretaker whose name is something, something carter and then in the in the flashback to him, he doesn't turn into the flaming skull head he's just a dude on a horse.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, but don't, don't worry, he flames out later he does no reason for no reason, then does absolutely no reason so he is.

Speaker 1:

He was supposed to go and collect this uh scroll that had a thousand dead souls on it. Not sure how you put dead souls on a scroll, but okay, don't worry about that. But then he's all like these are too much power to give to the devil, so I'm going to hide them in a church Just not.

Speaker 2:

I'm just going to not.

Speaker 1:

I guess that's my decision, I mean, once you've been ghosted, what worse things are going to happen to you? I mean, once you've been Ghost Rider, what worse things are going to happen to you? I mean, I guess Devil's like. I'll kill a bunch of children.

Speaker 2:

You're like no, you won't. Nah, I don't believe you, mr Devil, I just it's confusing because he's in hiding right.

Speaker 1:

No, he just works at a graveyard.

Speaker 2:

So he just so, the devil just can't come.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean, what's the devil going to do?

Speaker 2:

Give him grief Kill him? I don't know.

Speaker 1:

I mean, this is one of those movies where the devil's powers are highly suspect.

Speaker 2:

At best he almost does nothing in this movie.

Speaker 1:

No he walks up and says things occasionally. Yeah, that's, true, not very devil-y in my book. So we cut, we do the titles, we cut to the state fair the amazing blazing stunt show. It's not spectacular, it's a father and a son. They're jumping through hoops of fire. We're like who are these guys? And then we realize that the younger guy is johnny blaze, who's gonna become nick johnny blaze cage?

Speaker 1:

yeah, you couldn't tell, because they look so much alike, dan they don't look alike no, they don't they don't even like, he doesn't even the kid doesn't even put on on a bit of an affectation. Nicholas Cage is Nicholas Cage, yeah.

Speaker 2:

You can do a slight. It doesn't have to be a 100% like oh I'm doing Nicholas Cage, but give us a little, Give us a tiny hint that you're going to turn into the crackpot that is Nicholas Cage.

Speaker 1:

That does not happen. So the kid's out there and he, he's riding, and he, he hits a rock and he's like oh almost die.

Speaker 2:

He almost dies from hitting a little tiny rock yeah, that's not a good start for your daredevil journey yeah, um yeah.

Speaker 1:

His dad yells at him and tells him don't show off for a girl right now was he showing off for a girl.

Speaker 2:

Right Now, Dan, Was he showing off for a girl? I mean, he was a little because he was looking at the girl in the stands and he kind of did like a and then hit the rock. But my thing is you're a daredevil, sir. Your entire job is to show off.

Speaker 1:

That's what you do yeah, but not for a stupid girl, for an audience You're telling me that I would wager.

Speaker 2:

I'm just. This is based on no information, but I'm going to wager. 95% of daredevils go into it to impress a girl. No, you're right, not a girl. All girls.

Speaker 1:

That's better. Tony, all girls, thank you, I think that works.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think so I don't know, it's weird, it's an ego thing, no matter how you look at it. So it's just a strange thing to tell hey, don't show off. Now, let's go jump 50 cars, okay, but don't show off.

Speaker 1:

Stupid, this is real dumb. He doesn't listen to his dad much. So he goes and meets his girl, roxy, at the tree and he carves in the J forever Roxy in the tree and you're like, oh, they're in love. And then he's like I'm leaving. Oh, he goes back to there and his dad's passed out and he's like I'm going to leave, but then he finds out that wait, no, yeah, he just finds he's going to leave with the girl.

Speaker 2:

He's going to leave with the girl, which is some of the worst dialogue ever written. By the way, these two kids under this tree it's painful to listen to. I don't know.

Speaker 1:

This whole first coda, this whole pre-Nick Cage, being Ghost Rider no.

Speaker 2:

Should have cut the whole thing out.

Speaker 1:

Should have just started with Nick Cage. He should have just said my daddy was dying and I wanted to see him for one more day.

Speaker 2:

So I signed a contract. That's fine, good enough for me. Give me one line to summarize the first 10 minutes. We're good.

Speaker 1:

Or have him be like a nine-year-old and then put a plastic Nick Cage mask on his face and be like that was me when I was a baby.

Speaker 2:

That was me when I was a baby. That was me when I was a baby Looked like you're nine years old.

Speaker 1:

Little, I was a baby. So they're going to run off together. He goes home Dad's asleep with the scrapbook and smokes. Then he realizes that dad has cancer.

Speaker 2:

Well, he finds a piece of paper or something that just says hey, you got cancer.

Speaker 1:

How often do you go through the trash to see what is in there?

Speaker 2:

I go. Well, who's trash? My own trash, never Other people's trash. Daily, there it is. People throw away some jams, that is true. But why would you go through your own trash? I have no idea. I'm not a clue, I know what's in my trash.

Speaker 1:

So he goes back. He's like I'm worried about my dad, I better go work on bikes. He's working on his bikes. Here comes Peter Fonda as the devil. I'm the devil.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he's not a great devil.

Speaker 1:

Except he walks by a light at one point and there's like this shadow and it's like decrepit. You're like oh, this is like the best special effect in the movie.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I think they used it one more time. I think Did they? I didn't see it, I think so. I think they used it twice, but not enough.

Speaker 1:

So the devil's basically like I'll save your dad If you give me your soul sign here, pokes him and he does it. He wakes up in the trailer and dad's like you know what?

Speaker 2:

I was dying of cancer and now I'm not and now I'm not. They knew that that day, yes, dad went to see the doctor. Yeah, I know he's like. Oh, they took my x-rays this morning. They said I'm all clear. All of that sounds suspicious to me. I don't know.

Speaker 1:

He should have said it with a cigarette hanging in his mouth.

Speaker 2:

A couple of them, because now he's cancer free. He says, oh yes, I can smoke all.

Speaker 1:

I want. So the next day they're doing the show again, but they're not doing the show. It's just the dad doing the show, which doesn't make any sense. Nope, and then the dad just dies.

Speaker 2:

Just kind of drives. I mean they show it. He kind of drives at an angle and tries to jump and just falls and it's pretty bad. It's it's pretty bad.

Speaker 1:

He's dead and you're like, oh man, well, gotcha, gotcha A couple hours, I guess.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he got you good, the devil got you good. But yeah, you just gotta, you gotta hold your hands up and be like well done, well played, mr Devil, mr Devil, you got me, I'll do whatever you want.

Speaker 1:

So the kid rages out, he goes to the crossroads and he crashes, and then the devil walks up. He's like you can't die and he tries to punch the devil. The devil's like you can't punch the devil and then he's like I'm the devil. One of these days I'm going to come and collect on what you owe me, Whatever that might be Right, on what you owe me, whatever that might be Right, whatever I feel like, and he says, forget about love, forget about friends, family, family.

Speaker 2:

Why he had like 40 years? He could have done so much stuff.

Speaker 1:

You know what I mean. You're saying an adult, Nick Cage. Johnny Blaze is 60 years old.

Speaker 2:

Well, maybe not 60, but he's definitely 40?

Speaker 1:

Okay so 20 years? Yeah, yeah, but I mean, forget about love.

Speaker 2:

You had a bunch of time you could have been in love. This whole time he didn't need you. It wasn't like now you're my slave and I'm going to use you every day. He's like at some point in the future I'm going to come back, and when I come back you better not be in love or I'll be so mad at you. I didn't get it. I didn't understand it.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to come back at the beginning of the second act.

Speaker 2:

I'll see you soon, pal.

Speaker 1:

So then he breaks it off with the girl in the rain, and now all he does is ride. And then he morphs into Nick Cage, and this is when the movie starts this is when the movie should have started. Okay, we got through all those people that we're not interested in.

Speaker 2:

We don't need to see for the rest of the movie.

Speaker 1:

So he does this great. He does a hand thing, Does a double hand thing. He takes off, he's in the middle of a jump. They're playing crazy train. He makes the jump, but on the landing he eats it so hard. Like neck cracking, sliding up against the wall, You're like, oh yeah, that guy's dead.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but he's not dead, he's fine.

Speaker 1:

He's not even injured.

Speaker 2:

That's what's great. He's totally fine. And what does he say? I don't know.

Speaker 1:

What does he say? Heck is the bike. Okay, he's more worried about the bike than his own life Okay. So I guess now his next jump is going to be over buses in Texas.

Speaker 2:

Why would it be bigger? He just didn't land a smaller one. I mean, listen, I don't understand anything about daredeviling, oh no, but it feels like.

Speaker 1:

That counts as a win. That's a win, oh yeah for sure, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Okay, this isn't like the Olympics, where it's like four, two, no, no, all you got to do is hold up like signs with numbers from one to ten, show them off like a dunk contest. That may make it way more cool.

Speaker 1:

You just got to live, tony. It's a daredevil. It's all about living. So we find out he doesn't drink alcohol because it gives him nightmares. They're on the bus. They're on the bus, they're watching the news and the news is all like how much longer can Johnny Blaze cheat death? Next up here we jump in a football field full of buses yeah and we meet his manager, mac, played by Donald Logue. Love that guy, yeah, don't, don't fall too in love with him he's in it for a while, is he?

Speaker 1:

I mean a little bit, you know so here comes, it's raining, but then it's raining fire. And then here comes Mr Freeze, also known as Iceman, also known as Dark Duskman, darky, dark Duskman, darky, dark Duskman, dusky man.

Speaker 2:

Oof Boy. He's not my favorite not my favorite.

Speaker 1:

He this is per Wikipedia did drugs for a long time and then got off the drugs and then got on Yellowstone. Wow, great.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean, what a way to come back. Huh Shit, Yellowstone's great. It's the right place to be. I watched some of Yellowstone. I don't even remember. I'm sure he's in it.

Speaker 1:

I think he was one of the characters oh, one of the characters.

Speaker 2:

Okay, I was. Yeah, I was thinking totally different, so thank you for bringing me back on that I mean, it's not his fault in this movie, but it's bad. It's like really bad. It's it's kind of like ed from Twilight, but worse.

Speaker 1:

Well, Edward at least had something interesting to do.

Speaker 2:

I said worse. Okay, it just like. I don't know. He does this move a lot. Whose decision was that? You think it's like, after everything he says, he's aroused in a little bit Like oh, it's Johnny Blaze.

Speaker 1:

I mean, he just wants this magic scroll so that he can be king of hell.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, sure we don't really care? No, I don't really care. I also don't totally know what his powers are.

Speaker 1:

I don't really know who he is, he's, he's. You gotta remember they all have elements, so he's freezing, he's freezing, he's mr freeze.

Speaker 2:

First of all, freezing isn't an element. Yeah, ice is ice an element.

Speaker 1:

I mean it's because water hold on air. Ice is. Ice is a state.

Speaker 2:

Right, which is that's not what the other guys are. One of them is air, one of them is water, and then he's ice, which is like a combination of those two things, kind of what's the third guy? Was there a third guy? Is he fire? No, because Johnny Blaze is fire. Is he earth? He's sand. He's like sand Sand man Also not an element Sand. That's not one of the elements of earth Fire, earth air, water, sand.

Speaker 1:

So, and we see it right off the bat, there's a guy holding a beer and the beer freezes, so he's Mr Freeze.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, I mean like I understand that he's the cold guy, dan. What I'm saying is I don't understand what that means.

Speaker 1:

He pokes a guy in the chest and then freezes his heart, freezes his whole body.

Speaker 2:

But then sometimes he touches things and they don't freeze.

Speaker 1:

Just because he doesn't want them to freeze.

Speaker 2:

Right, but can he throw cold? Because it seems like sometimes he can. He can probably throw it, but wouldn't you want to do that more often? Why are you getting close? I don't know. It's confusing to me.

Speaker 1:

He's safe from Johnny, please because he doesn't have a soul.

Speaker 2:

Spoilers Not yet, oh boy.

Speaker 1:

So he calls up all these people. He calls up the sand guy and the water guy and the air guy and they all are like woo. We all have names that no one will remember.

Speaker 2:

We will not say enough times, so you could ever remember them, nor would I want to Don't give them names.

Speaker 1:

So we're like, oh, so you're like, oh, okay, so just going to have to kill these guys one at a time and then that'll be cool. So he's jumping at the Sobe Dome leap of death. He's pre-gaming with some carpenters. Donald Logue brings him his what, what is that? What do you call that stick that he has there, tony?

Speaker 1:

he's got a stick, yeah, like a walking stick kind of like that, kind of like a walking stick, kind of like a cane. Do you know what they call that? Nope, I got nothing. It's called a swagger stick.

Speaker 2:

A swagger stick.

Speaker 1:

That's what it's called. A swagger stick is a kind of a, you know, a little like three-foot cane that doesn't have a hook on the end and you know, you maybe put a diamond on the end and people like Kingpin have them and even Knievel has one.

Speaker 2:

It's a swagger stick. I got my swagger stick I got my swagger stick I got my swagger stick. Swagger stick, swagger stick. I should get a swagger stick.

Speaker 1:

You should. He just drinks a pot of coffee right off the thing.

Speaker 2:

And it was like steaming right. Yeah, it was hot.

Speaker 1:

It was hot and he doesn't?

Speaker 2:

That's weird. What a weird choice. You can't live in fear, yeah, okay. He says that a bunch.

Speaker 1:

Now. So he's getting ready to go and walks out the door and boom, there's Eva Mendez, or Ms Gosling as we like to know her.

Speaker 2:

I thought you were going to remember her character name for a second. I was impressed.

Speaker 1:

Roxy.

Speaker 2:

Wow.

Speaker 1:

I read this shit down.

Speaker 2:

Oh well, that's smart, I'll never remember. I don't remember anyone's names, except for Johnny Blaze.

Speaker 1:

Johnny Blaze JB.

Speaker 2:

Jables. Why does she always look lost in this movie?

Speaker 1:

Oh, probably because they would just give her the script 30 seconds before she would be walking on the stage.

Speaker 2:

She just always feels like she doesn't quite know what's happening in the movie.

Speaker 1:

Well, yeah, she's never quite sure if she's supposed to be in love with him at this moment. Where's this scene going in the movie?

Speaker 2:

We don't know yet We'll figure it out later. Don't worry about it, just shoot it. I don't know yet. We'll figure it out later. Don't worry about it, just shoot it I don't know.

Speaker 1:

So he sees her and he's just like boing.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, Six to midnight.

Speaker 1:

He's like. I see you on TV. You look good. Are you married?

Speaker 2:

Well, he said I heard you got married yes. And then she's like no, I didn't. Why is that even in there? What a weird exchange. I heard you got married, oh, no, I I didn't. That was false news.

Speaker 1:

I don't like what uh, yeah, they had a history. They, you, you two had a history. And then she's all like, yeah, wait, is this? Do they do the interview now or do they?

Speaker 2:

this is the interview, because he's about to go up to the jump.

Speaker 1:

They do the interview. Do you want to talk about the interview?

Speaker 2:

It was offensive and she did not get nearly mad enough at this guy who just ogled her on television instead of answering a single GD question she asked I would have slapped the shit out of him. It was really weird.

Speaker 1:

The whole way. It was staged weird, it looked weird, it didn't make any sense, it was just. It felt like an improv, it felt like a bad.

Speaker 2:

second year improv yes.

Speaker 1:

Are you excited about the jump? Hey, is that. Excited about the jump? Hey, is that a new hairdo. Check out your moles A little bigger than it used to be.

Speaker 2:

You getting it checked out. You should get it checked out.

Speaker 1:

Gotta get those things checked out. Now is he doing, Elvis? What is he doing?

Speaker 2:

There is definitely An Elvis element to this johnny blaze character. I mean even when he did the hands at the when he was on the motorcycle, like it was very elvis, uh yeah, no, I mean it's definitely. It's definitely part of the character.

Speaker 1:

The guy's obsessed so boom, he's out there, ready to do the jump. She, she leaves in the van with the guy that drives with her. And then there's no buses and Donald Logue, his manager guy, is like oh good, I'm glad you got rid of the buses. He's like, yeah, I got rid of the buses.

Speaker 1:

And then five black-hot helicopters descend from the sky and his manager is like why didn't you tell me you were switching to helicopters? You're like we're all like, wait a second. So Johnny Blaze just makes a command decision about his situation and nobody knows, calls the Black Hawk helicopter. People.

Speaker 2:

I had a couple of buddies that had some choppers laying around. They just came and flew in.

Speaker 1:

It was weird. So he just is like I gotta go because I gotta go chase my girl. So he just was like go for it, it just takes off yeah.

Speaker 2:

And nails the jump, great, the only jump. We see him land in the whole movie. That is true. And then he just rides out of the arena.

Speaker 1:

Yep Rides out of the arena, chases them down the news van on the highway. That's like my favorite scene in the whole movie. The whole movie, I think. So I think this is my favorite scene in the whole movie. This is a really fun scene. Sure, he is on a motorcycle. They're in a van. He pulls up to her side and is like there's banter. Then at one point he pulls back, pulls to the other side, bantering with the-.

Speaker 2:

The driver.

Speaker 1:

The cameraman driver has to avoid some trucks, then they won't stop. He screams out ahead, turns his bike, stops it, and then they have to stop. And stop just in time not to hit him.

Speaker 2:

Yeah because he's a daredevil.

Speaker 1:

And then, well, he's a motorcycle, he's a guy that understands where he would have to stop. Yeah, yeah, it shuts down the whole freeway. They rekindle their relationship.

Speaker 2:

I think he kisses her at this point Inappropriately, because she is not asking for it, but more importantly, dan, it's 2007. That's 17 years ago, you're allowed to kiss the girl 17 years ago you could kiss the girl.

Speaker 1:

This is not woke twisters where, like the girls, their lips never meet.

Speaker 2:

You're darn right, they don't, because the movie's not about that.

Speaker 1:

Dan.

Speaker 2:

The movie. It's not a relationship movie. It doesn't need to culminate in them kissing at the end the movie is about her falling back in love with weather put a ring on it before you get a kiss.

Speaker 1:

If you like it, man, you gotta put a ring on it when I was a kid back in my day.

Speaker 2:

Get your swagger stick out, old man. Yeah, more importantly, dan, he asks her on a date.

Speaker 1:

Yes, he does, do you?

Speaker 2:

remember what he asks her to go. What kind of restaurant? I-talian, i-talian why? Why does he say I-talian? Because it's really good. I love Nick Cage. I love him. He's always fun.

Speaker 1:

So they're going to go have dinner at 8 pm, do not be late. She tells him Do not be late, and then all these autograph seekers come from all the which is very funny. It was just it felt real. Like if Johnny Blaze was there, everyone would want a piece of it Be like oh shit, get a pen, baby, let's go. Yeah, and that's the end of the best scene in the whole movie.

Speaker 2:

And it's all downhill from here.

Speaker 1:

So Iceman and his boys. They meet up with Mistoffelees and they, you know, they're all like brr, this, that and brr.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, this, that and the other yeah.

Speaker 1:

So Roxy goes to meet him for dinner.

Speaker 2:

He just does not show up on time for no reason. No, there's a reason.

Speaker 1:

No, there's no reason. She's there ready to go and he's. He's back at home looking at himself in the mirror. He's like you, good, you good you good.

Speaker 2:

I thought the devil showed up, nope.

Speaker 1:

Nope, I thought the devil showed up. Nope, nope, nope, nope, not at all. There's no reason for it.

Speaker 2:

She is sitting there ordering wine at exactly 8 pm and he's just looking at himself in the mirror. Well, that's not all she does, Dan. What else does she do? She pulls out a magic eight ball From where why?

Speaker 1:

And this is the point where this movie starts making decisions that I'm like these are finally the right decisions.

Speaker 2:

This woman just carries a magic eight ball with her everywhere she goes. It's 2007. Those ads have been cool for 15 years. They're still cool, tony, oh God, incredible stuff.

Speaker 1:

It was pretty great. Does she even look at what the answer is?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, she shook it, looked at it and put it down, but I don't think she tells us what it says. I don't think so. No.

Speaker 1:

You're like what is happening? I'm sure Nick Cage was like okay, she's so bored, she pulls out her magic eight ball.

Speaker 2:

She does what Nick A magic eight ball, all right buddy's.

Speaker 1:

He's looking at himself in the mirror right, yeah, and then he's like you can't live in fear. And then he's starting to get hot. Then we cut back to her she's drinking wine, then messes, then then they're in that. Oh, he goes out in the alley and there's a cycle waiting and then he meets the devil.

Speaker 1:

So she's, so she's already had two scenes in the restaurant before he walks out. He should have been walking out. But he gets hot. He should have been walking out. And then the devil is doing the thing. And then we cut to her walking in the thing and she's like I'm supposed to meet someone at 8 pm and then he's in it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but his hands got hot, so that happened. Imagine your hands getting so hot that you can't cool them down, Dan.

Speaker 1:

She's already at the restaurant and he knows she's not supposed to be late.

Speaker 2:

She did. She emphasized that part quite a bit.

Speaker 1:

Yes, and he's immediately disregarding that.

Speaker 2:

For no reason. If there was a reason, well, he's Johnny Blaze.

Speaker 1:

Dan, you can't pin this guy down, yeah if he is back in his apartment and you know they cut and his hands are on fire and he's all like what is happening to me. I'm going to be late for my appointment.

Speaker 2:

I hope that's exactly how he played it too. Hands are on fire. What is happening to me? It's good.

Speaker 1:

It's good. So here's the devil and he's all like it's time you got to go find Blackheart, iceman, dude. And he's like, if you succeed, I'll return your soul, and then he goes full. So there's like a normal motorcycle that the devil brought with him.

Speaker 2:

Seems like it.

Speaker 1:

He goes Ghost Rider Not full Ghost Rider, because later he goes Ghost Rider again, and then little studs pop out Little spikies. Bonus. Things happen and then the bike turns from a normal bike into an incredibly silvered out no. Oh, really Devil motorcycle, I think the bike gets less cool. Yeah, I mean it's more. I don't know, it's very silly.

Speaker 2:

It's very silly. I don't know.

Speaker 1:

It's very silly, it's very silly, I don't know. And then the bad guys are looking for the graveyard, where the scroll should be, and there's a train car there. And I'm never able to figure out if that's outside of his apartment or not?

Speaker 2:

Oh, interesting. Yeah, I guess I have no idea. Now I do have some questions. Yes, because they said, like the devil can't go on hallowed ground for sure. But why can these fallen angels go on hallowed ground?

Speaker 1:

So then what happens is he rides off in full ghost rider form and just blows up the town just like cars are exploding.

Speaker 2:

He's destroying buildings. Everywhere things are exploding. He drives up a building, no, not yet 34 floors of glass that's later and down that's later.

Speaker 1:

I don't care, he doesn't care about anything this is a anything, but he does because it's not him, it's not Johnny Blaze, it's the ghost writer, I mean I get that.

Speaker 2:

But it's like, yes, but Because at some point he sees Eva Mendez and he's like that's my girl as a skeleton, and then he like it's a blurred Line as.

Speaker 1:

Rob Thicke would say but I love the idea that just everywhere the Ghost Rider goes, it destroys the street.

Speaker 2:

It blows up cars. Everything's being destroyed.

Speaker 1:

I'm like this works for me.

Speaker 2:

What.

Speaker 1:

It's so rude. Yeah, so he burns up the town. Then the bad guys are at this train and this dude, and they ask this dude that's working there where the graves went, and then he says they went to this other place and they kill him. And then he rides back and transforms and then he has to fight Sandman.

Speaker 2:

Well, that's a misnomer. Fight is not right.

Speaker 1:

But the whole idea is he drives away and then he goes back home and that's where they're waiting for him seemingly yeah, seemingly yeah for sure. So you want to talk about the big fight.

Speaker 2:

Oh, the big fight. Okay, so they're standing on the roof, and then he.

Speaker 1:

Wait, am I on the wrong one? You, I on the wrong one, you're on the wrong one. They run a, they run a truck into him and then he gets out, and then he gets a chain and then he right turns the chain and then spins, whips the chain around the dude and just kills him almost instantly and then you're right.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, you're right. I was on air, I was doing air.

Speaker 1:

I know the other three dudes just fuck off yeah, okay, oh yeah.

Speaker 2:

And this is the guy that asks for mercy. Yeah, one of our, one of our fallen angel evil guys is like have mercy before he kills him. That's dumb, he shouldn't, that should not happen. He should be like fuck you, ghost Rider, and then gets taken out have mercy. I almost vomited.

Speaker 1:

It was pretty good. So even Mendes still getting drunk waiting. He's riding the bike to get to his date and boom, there he sees like a bad guy stealing from a lady. Who's that lady that he's stealing from? It's Rebel.

Speaker 2:

Wilson. Did you recognize her? No, so we actually. I don't know how Naomi found that little tidbit at some point. She's like Rebel Wilson's in this movie, girl in alley. So then we kept our eyes open. We're like, well, that's girl in alley, right there. It does not look like her.

Speaker 1:

It has dark hair. I mean I knew I knew her from something I was like oh, I know that person and she's funny Like she has some funny lines. She's funny, she's a very funny person. Always has been Saves her. Then he's like looks at the dude and then he sees his whole history and then he's like you're guilty like you're guilty and then he kills him now, which is great.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, dan, is he a judge, jury, executioner? I don't understand. Okay, torment, how is that the spirit of vengeance he's?

Speaker 1:

I'm confused on his role he's avenging all the people that, uh, this dude was to, they were wronged. Okay, no, that was terrible to him. He was terrible too. The bad guy is terrible to people.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 1:

He acts as a spirit of vengeance against people that have done bad things.

Speaker 2:

Okay, so he's like you're bad and I burn you up, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so like he'd come to me and he'd be like you're the greatest person ever, innocent.

Speaker 2:

Right, that's what he says to the kid in the jail cell.

Speaker 1:

Something like that. He'd burn you to death, Tony.

Speaker 2:

He would burn me.

Speaker 1:

But I'd have to look him in the eyes but I wouldn't Saves the lady. Then he falls off his bike and turns normal. He wakes up in a church and he drinks all the water, which I thought was very funny. There were three glasses of water. He drinks a glass of water and then just throws the glasses on the ground, yep, yep, okay. And then here comes the caretaker and Johnny Blaze where's my motorcycle? And he's all like by the shed. I'm like, okay, those are lines you can put in your movie.

Speaker 2:

I like that. I mean you can't, you don't need them, for sure they don't do anything, but I guess you could put them in there.

Speaker 1:

Yep, and he's like I picked out a spot for you. When you're dead, I'm like okay.

Speaker 2:

Which is fine. You know, I enjoy Sam Elliott.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he's good. Next day there's some news. Roxy's figuring it out. He is the devil's bounty hunter. He will change at night. It's been 150 years since the last writer. He's got a fine black heart and the other fallen angels and then we get a great line. I feel much better now that I know I'm the devil's bounty hunter.

Speaker 2:

Why? Why would that make you feel better? That would make me feel better, would it? Dan? Yeah, would that give you some sort of relief?

Speaker 1:

You know, shannon was like we were supposed to shoot our last show on Monday but it was so hot. Shannon was like you can't go in the toy room, because it's too hot and you'll probably die.

Speaker 1:

And I was like, no, I just want to do my thing. And she's like, no, you must cancel. So I canceled. Then we did it on Wednesday and she's all like what is wrong with you? You know, I was like I just like to do the things. When I do them, you know, sure, sure, and it's not like I enjoy doing this, it's more just like I just want to get it over with. I saw you drink it. I got you with that one.

Speaker 2:

Oh, okay, dan, you know what. Fuck you. All right, we don't have to do this ever again. This could be the last one. You got it done, jesus.

Speaker 1:

But that's the thing with me. It's like I like to take care of my stuff. You know I don't like to push things back. If I don't have to, I mean I'll procrastinate about all sorts of stuff. But if a thing is on the calendar. I'm going to try and take care of it then. And there to be done.

Speaker 2:

That is a big difference between us. I love to push stuff down the road.

Speaker 1:

You know what I mean.

Speaker 2:

Like if it's coming up tomorrow and I'm like I'm definitely not in the mood, let's try to push it for a week. Maybe by then I'll be able to psych myself up to do it.

Speaker 1:

But you know. So, like if I was Johnny Blaze, I'd like to know the specifics of why I was turning into a skeleton.

Speaker 2:

I mean, I guess the specifics would be nice, but the reason is worse, because I think in his head at first he's like I think I'm going crazy, oh wait, no, I'm just a devil's bounty hunter. That he's like I think I'm going crazy, oh wait, no, I'm just a devil's bounty hunter.

Speaker 1:

That's so much better. Yeah, it is. You'd rather spend your life confused, not knowing what was going on, as opposed to perfectly understanding what is expected of you.

Speaker 2:

If those are my only two options, I guess I would take the truth, but I still wouldn't feel good about it. I'd be like well, at least I know. But it's pretty bad news, Sam Elliott, it's pretty bad the devil's.

Speaker 1:

Oh, it's Sam Elliott time. Yeah, yeah, he goes home. Sees all the destruction. Roxy's interviewing Rebel Wilson about being saved Some funny lines. Yeah, she says a couple of funny things and then Roxy's like I'm over you, you're the same, you're just a carny I'm getting in this van and driving away.

Speaker 2:

It's actually pretty harsh. That's a mean thing to say. She blows him up pretty hard.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he goes into his apartment immediately, strips down naked and is looking in the mirror again.

Speaker 2:

And is jacked as fuck. He is full Wolverine.

Speaker 1:

Oh my.

Speaker 2:

God, dude, I did not see that coming. Good for you, nick. This must have been the same time he was running for Superman maybe, I don't know. Maybe, yeah, I don't know, but he is cut up.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he's naked in the mirror. He gets out his books starting to do the research to try and figure things out, because we already set up that he always had research books laying around. He does his research by tearing the pages out of the books he owns, which is not what you do to books that you own.

Speaker 2:

Like if you were in the library, maybe, and you were like I need this page for later, I can understand you tearing it out. Just bookmark it, guy, it's your book. You have it forever. You can come back to it. You don't need to tear it out of your own book Now. You're going to lose it and then someday you're going to be like oh shit, what was that in that book? Oh, the page is gone. I can't believe I did that.

Speaker 1:

That's why you should always, you know, do your footnoting, do all those little things, do some notations. Yeah, you're going to be fine, it's your book. It's your book. He finds out the end of days is coming. He's the fire element. He sets his hand on fire and then Eva shows up to apologize. You really needed to have to have His hand on fire, and that's the bit of this scene Great.

Speaker 1:

I would love that we all know what the bit of this scene is instantaneously. That is, he's manifesting powers and she's there to have a serious conversation and at one point his head goes full. He's like Mom, okay.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, that'd be very fun. I still like this scene, though, dan. It's an okay scene, you know, because he's so playful with it. Yeah, like, because he's just being like very honest, hold on.

Speaker 1:

I skipped the most important part of the whole movie.

Speaker 2:

The whole movie.

Speaker 1:

Yes, what is it? Well, he was having this one day where he was in his apartment with Donald Logue for the first time, and we learn that he's obsessed with candy. He puts jelly beans in a martini glass and then acts like he's drinking them to put them in his mouth. He's obsessed with the carpenters. He's also obsessed with like monkey videos.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, now, all things that just are Nicolas Cage for sure, right, these are just like he's, like I want to put myself in this character a little bit, so I'm gonna like do these three things, things, and we need a five minute scene where I can discuss these things so people understand that I love them.

Speaker 1:

It was the best part of the movie.

Speaker 2:

It's adorable.

Speaker 1:

Okay. So he's doing his research. She shows up, she sees photos of them from the photo booth and then she kisses him and she's asking questions. She's like talk to me, talk to me, please talk to me. And then he tells her the truth.

Speaker 2:

And it's really funny. Like at one point he's like and then I just change Into what? Into a great big monster, like he says it so casually. It's a really nice scene. I really like Nick in this scene. The guy's great.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he's fun and this is the kind of movie where you're like he's playful with the whole weird thing.

Speaker 2:

And you're like this is the right tone, right tone for this movie, yeah. And then most of the time it's like where did that go? Where is that?

Speaker 1:

The direction of this movie not great. Tone was pretty good. Eva's okay at times. He's fine At times when she's not completely lost the villains are not good. I don't love them. I'm going to say my problem with the movie.

Speaker 2:

What's your problem with the movie?

Speaker 1:

The soundtrack slash score. It's pretty bad. It just you know when he's riding the motorcycle and doing the fights you gotta drag us in there with the music.

Speaker 2:

You gotta rock us in there with the music, rocking and rolling.

Speaker 1:

They rock, but it just I don't know, it just didn't work.

Speaker 2:

Well, maybe because it's 2007, Dan, and you just don't feel the same way you did then, you know, I don't know. What does that mean? Like, maybe you like different music now. Maybe in 2007, this soundtrack was the best soundtrack in the world. Well, I mean, did you like it? Oh, I didn't like it at all.

Speaker 1:

Yeah it's terrible yeah it's pretty bad. Even you didn't like it, even me. What is that I have?

Speaker 2:

great musical taste. Are you kidding me?

Speaker 1:

Sheesh Luis, sheesh Luis. So she's all like Johnny, I don't know what's up with you. I'm leaving, so she leaves.

Speaker 2:

Well, she said I can do one of two things. Oh yeah, can do one of two things. Oh yeah, I can either believe you and commit you or I can just assume that you're a bad guy and just leave. And I was like those are not your only two options you got a lot more options than that. You can just believe it and say like well, I'll help you fight the devil can't do that, that's not in it that's gotta be.

Speaker 1:

One of the three is like believe what you're saying and then help you fight the devil. That's number one.

Speaker 2:

Nope, not doing that one at all, yeah.

Speaker 1:

He goes outside, here comes 27 police guards. They arrest him because earlier the police had picked some clue up that I didn't know what it was it implicated him.

Speaker 2:

I don't think it did. Yeah, but I do do again. I love Nick in this scene. They like are coming at him.

Speaker 1:

He's just very like okay, yeah, no, that's fine, arrest me we do an interrogation, there's a guy smoking good cop, bad cop, doesn't go anywhere. Then they then so he's being like super cool. Then they're dragging him to a cell and then he's freaking out. He's all like he was super cool. Now he's like, don't do it. Then they're dragging him to a cell and then he's freaking out. He's all like he was super cool. Now he's like don't do it, don't do it.

Speaker 2:

Because he knows he's going to kill everybody. Yeah, so they put Because again, dan, I don't think they're as separate as you think they are, but I don't know.

Speaker 1:

They put him in one of those great cells that like is like in the middle of a big room. Yeah, like the Dark Knight cell.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's really stupid. Maybe they have that somewhere.

Speaker 1:

I don't believe it.

Speaker 2:

I always thought that that was more like the holding cell before you get booked, but I don't know for sure.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. So in there are all these bad guys, and the bad guys immediately.

Speaker 2:

First of all, if they're real bad guys and they saw Johnny Blaze, they would think he was the coolest guy ever so I have problems in general with that through this movie, because there's this scene where all these, all these rough and toughs would think he's the coolest guy in the world. And then there's there's a point where which we'll get to in a little bit where the manager is like did he get arrested? This is going to ruin his reputation.

Speaker 2:

And the answer to that is no. It's going to do the opposite. If the badass jumping over cars motorcycle guy gets arrested, that just ups his street cred. It's weird. They don't understand what a daredevil is or does. Which is weird, because this guy apparently also directed Daredevil. There it is, nailed it.

Speaker 1:

So he ends up fighting these guys, and he doesn't kill any of them, he just beats them all up.

Speaker 2:

Not all of them. He leaves the kid alone. There's one kid who's innocent and he points at him and says innocent. Then he falls over because he lost his mind. He passes out. Poor little guy.

Speaker 1:

Our bad guy goes to this church looking for the thing. He doesn't find it. We don't know why.

Speaker 2:

I don't know why he's at a church or in a church. Seems like he probably couldn't do that.

Speaker 1:

Ghost Rider melts the bars, leaves, gets on his motorcycle, drives away, driving through the city all hands on deck. He drives up a bridge.

Speaker 2:

All right, yeah, oh, that's right. Like up the arch part of the bridge.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's great stuff Everybody's like come down, come down, or we're going to shoot you. I think they all shoot him at one point, yeah, and then he jumps off the thing, drives down, goes into the river bubble, bubble, bubble. And then, when he starts accelerating, he comes up out of the water.

Speaker 2:

He's a jet ski. All of a sudden you love it. I don't even get it, loved it.

Speaker 1:

Loved it. That was one of my favorite parts of the movie.

Speaker 2:

Great Driving on the water.

Speaker 1:

I'm like, yeah, he's driving on the water. You're just jealous, I'm very jealous. And now here comes Smoke man. He's got to fight. Smoke man at night Drives up walls. Roxy sees him and is like, oh my god, it's true, he fights with a helicopter for no reason. Yeah, and then just the helicopter is like he's like leave. And the helicopter is like okay, I'm leaving.

Speaker 2:

No, no, no. He lassos it with his chain and like swings it away. And then they were like you're right, we should keep going. This is not for us.

Speaker 1:

Now, did you think he was going to kill Smoke Guy with the helicopter?

Speaker 2:

I didn't know where it was going and I was sufficiently disappointed.

Speaker 1:

How did he kill Smoke Guy?

Speaker 2:

Well, I still don't totally know. If I'm just being very clear with you, you should know exactly why it? Happened. So here's what happened. I'll just explain it to you step by step and you can tell me the science behind it, dan. So he takes his chain off and he whips him and the guy's like, haha, you can't hit me, I'm the wind. And then, and then there's like a pause Skull thinks and he's like, ah, I'll set it on fire and then create a vortex of fire and then you're dead. Yeah, what happens?

Speaker 1:

Weren't we talking about that stupid movie you like Twisters? What happens in the Twisters?

Speaker 2:

There's a sweet ass fire tornado, Tell you that that's dope. But how did that kill the guy? I mean, the sound effect is what sells it.

Speaker 1:

You know the fire, the cleansing fire of vengeance is going to kill anything eventually.

Speaker 2:

Oh, okay, yeah, I didn't know that. Yeah, of course I can't. And then I guess that's going to be the answer for also the water guy later. It's just that you know, fire, fire, yeah, fire always wins. Fire doesn't kill water. Can I just tell everybody that, if it's Water kills fire, not if the fire's hot enough.

Speaker 1:

What happens when you say you take a piece of phosphorus?

Speaker 2:

Okay, now you think well, let me go get my phosphorus real quick and we'll do the experiment as we talk.

Speaker 1:

Dan. Yes, well, if you had some of the element phosphorus.

Speaker 2:

Was that pH?

Speaker 1:

Yes, it doesn't matter, it's phosphorus ph. I don't know, maybe it is phosphorus. Uh, ignites at, just it'll just ignite, right, unless you, unless you have it in in a solution or something. But so phosphorus is burning. Don't want to put it on your hand, but if you had it in your hand it would be burning in your hand, and then if you drop phosphorus in the water.

Speaker 1:

Oh, you know what a flare is like when I'm stranded and I have to shoot a flare no, well, the other ones, like it's a red stick, like when I'm in a tunnel and I have to go yeah, okay, yeah, if you throw a flare into the water, it it still burns it does still burn.

Speaker 2:

You're absolutely right about that. Yeah, that's true. Is that? Is that phosphorus? Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 1:

Okay, but this guy's not phosphorus no, his chain is phosphorus and the other, the guy's getting burned by it. Wait, wait, wait the water. The water doesn't win the water is made out of phosphorus. No, the flames, the flames win. God God damn it. Tony, you're testing me today.

Speaker 2:

Stop testing me. I don't understand this science. By the way, phosphorus, just a capital P on the periodic table. Oh, there it is.

Speaker 1:

Because pH is what is pH. It's something I do not know. I should know it's like aluminum or something, but it's not aluminum. It's something surprising something. But it's not aluminum, it's something surprising, okay. So then he drives down the thing. At one point when he's driving up he burns out a piece of the window where the guy was doing window cleaning.

Speaker 2:

The guy's doing window cleaning and there's a really great. This guy crushes it. By the way, A really nice moment where the guy's just looking up and down at the hole. It's really funny.

Speaker 1:

It's really nice yeah it's nice and that's the thing in this movie. There's some moments that you're like, okay, totally, and there's some weird stuff. There's long boring parts with the things you don't want to see but you're like okay, um, he goes down, all the cops shoot at him and then he makes a bunch of fire and drives out Then the other. I guess we're down to two other bad guys. They're standing there watching. They're all like, oh, roxy's his girlfriend and he's going to protect her.

Speaker 2:

He didn't do anything to protect her. The guy says oh, we found her weakness Because he loves that sound, Loves it Because he loves that sound, loves it.

Speaker 1:

So he goes back to see the caretaker at the graveyard and then he tells him the whole thing about how the 1,000 things happened, right, whatever.

Speaker 2:

Who cares. A lot of exposition.

Speaker 1:

Roxy goes looking for Johnny Blaze to his apartment, finds Mac Mac's there.

Speaker 2:

And he's all like you ruined Real quick.

Speaker 1:

We were on Easy Street until all like you ruined, but real quick. We were on Easy Street until broad light you came along, ruined everything.

Speaker 2:

And this is a scene where he's like he's been arrested and it's going to ruin his career. Nothing this guy says makes any sense, so she's all like here's my thing, Dan.

Speaker 1:

This is the next day, yes, the next day. Here's my thing, dan.

Speaker 2:

This is the next day. Yes, the next day, because Nick went to the graveyard and got the pep talk from Sam Elliott about the Thousand Souls. Drank some water, yeah, but she was like. Her. Only thing she did that day, as far as I know, is looked for him and she gets to his apartment at night. It took her 12 hours to figure out to go to his apartment.

Speaker 1:

Well, she probably had meals. According to who, she might have had me, she might have had a meeting it's just this.

Speaker 2:

This whole day is like a weird I don't know.

Speaker 1:

It just felt very jarring well, this is one of those movies where you're like okay, these next scenes have to take place at night. Well, that's when they're taking place.

Speaker 2:

Let's just skip a whole day where people should be doing a lot of stuff involved with these things, nope, so boom.

Speaker 1:

Donald Logue is like Mac is. His guy is like, well, he's got all these books on religion. Maybe if you look through those books you'd get some information. Just he's all like, okay, I'll do that. And boom, here comes. Iceman and he just kills Mac in like one second.

Speaker 2:

Which was very sad, very, very sad, like unceremonious death. It was tough, tough, to watch.

Speaker 1:

It was sad. Takes the girl. He's got Roxy now and she's like half dead.

Speaker 2:

He half freezes her.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I don't know what that was.

Speaker 2:

I don't get it.

Speaker 1:

The caretaker breaks his shovel open and there's the contract Dun-da-dun.

Speaker 2:

Oh, this is my favorite line in the movie. Yeah, so Nick goes and he captures his girlfriend.

Speaker 1:

So then, nick, goes back to the graveyard and Sam.

Speaker 2:

Elliott's just waiting for him. He looks at him and goes I figured you'd be back bonehead. Bonehead, because he's a skull, he's a skeleton, for whatever reason that cracked me up. That's it. That was like my favorite line of the whole movie Bonehead.

Speaker 1:

There it is. He's the original Ghost writer from 150 years ago with the contract, so they both get on now. Yeah damn tell me.

Speaker 2:

Well, how can there be more than one ghost writer?

Speaker 1:

because he's just got one transformation left in him okay, that doesn't make sense either.

Speaker 2:

I was gonna wait to bring that up for a while. There's one every generation. How is there two?

Speaker 1:

so they both get. He gets on the horse, johnny gets on his bike and they're like, let's ride. And then they they're riding out into the desert. This is the other best thing you know, we, we give the dan. Dan goodsell rules Don't hurt animals.

Speaker 2:

Oh my God, yeah, this is yes.

Speaker 1:

This is poor little lizard watching.

Speaker 2:

Just chilling. Just chilling in the desert in his home. They drive by all on fire and they cook him. He turns into a skeleton and falls apart. They cook his poor little bastard. And that's supposed to be cool, that's supposed to show how cool these guys are. They're just killing animals.

Speaker 1:

It was the funniest thing ever. You see this little skeleton. You're like, oh my God, can you imagine a guy got to animate that? He's like I get to do this.

Speaker 2:

You want me to do what? All right.

Speaker 1:

In Raising Arizona with the bad guy in the motorcycle. He burns up a lizard too that he rides by.

Speaker 2:

Oh, so it's a callback to his own movie. Nick was like we got to burn a lizard guys, we got to burn it. That was a Nick Cage movie, wasn't it? Raising Arizona is a Nick Cage movie.

Speaker 1:

Holy shit. Oh wow, I wonder if he called that.

Speaker 2:

He might have called that. That was my first thought when you said it was it because I haven't seen raising arizona in about 30 years. Uh, but yeah, must be. Must be one of those things, you know jelly beans in a cup burning up lizards.

Speaker 1:

Nick just likes to do nick so then he gives him a gun and he's all like, yep, now I'm just leaving right, okay, so let's get let's.

Speaker 2:

Let's break this down real quickly, dan. So Sam Elliott has been waiting for 150 years. Yes, as a caretaker, yes, a new ghost writer comes and he's like let's go get our revenge. Yes, but all he really wanted let's go get our revenge. Yes, but all he really wanted to do was go on a drive with his friend and then be like now I'm dead, I'm going out. Well, he had to show him where the town was.

Speaker 1:

He couldn't just point to it on a map? I mean, I don't know if the Ghost Rider could read maps. Maybe they just burn up when he touches them. You know, he's like holding the-.

Speaker 2:

It's right here, Ghost Rider. Oh, it's on fire. Let's get another map.

Speaker 1:

Get another map. Keeps turning the page on the Thomas guide.

Speaker 2:

Oh shit, we got nothing left. Ghost Rider, I just and he's like I only had one ride left. I was saving it for this, and by this he just means nothing. He didn't do anything. He came and then he was like stay in the shadows, peace out, and he left and I assume he's dead. Is he dead? No, he went to heaven, so he is dead. People in heaven are dead. Dan, do I have to explain heaven and hell to you today? I, dan, do I have to explain heaven and hell to you today?

Speaker 1:

I guess they can come back sometimes though. It would really depend on what show you're watching, what lore you're into. So we see this little town sitting there right Right. And now Nick, the Ghost Rider in a swamp.

Speaker 2:

Right when, where? Because I thought they were in the desert. This is a swamp outside the desert because remember, when they killed a lizard, they were definitely driving through the desert and now there's like a six foot swamp. They're pretty much underwater.

Speaker 1:

I don't understand what's happening he gets attacked by the shark dude and then he burns him up to death.

Speaker 2:

Just boils him, just boils his water Like a hot dog Boils him up.

Speaker 1:

He gets there. There's the bad guy, iceman. He's all like if you change into the Ghost Rider, she dies.

Speaker 2:

Yep. And then Nick Cage outsmarts him and is like, hey, here's the souls, but let her go first Hold on.

Speaker 1:

He throws fireballs at him first. Then the sun starts to rise. He's out of time. Here come all the spirits.

Speaker 2:

Except for he's not out of time. Dan, I don't understand this.

Speaker 1:

Well, if he goes in a house, he can turn into the Ghost Rider.

Speaker 2:

Don't say that like it makes any sense.

Speaker 1:

Inside a house, ghost Rider Outside a house, not Ghost Rider During the day, just during the day.

Speaker 2:

Is it shade? Can he just change? So if he went under a big tree he could probably be Ghost Rider again.

Speaker 1:

If there was enough shade. Yeah, so stupid.

Speaker 2:

The thing says at night you be Ghost Rider again If there was enough shade. Yeah, so stupid. The thing says at night You're Ghost Rider. At night You're human. During the day the sun came up and he's like look at that little hole in the wall. I bet there's no sun in there. I could be Ghost Rider all day. Yep, doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 1:

So then he goes into the church.

Speaker 2:

It's a melatonin thing.

Speaker 1:

Is that what you're trying to tell me, Dan? Yes, that's what it is. I think it's melatonin, but it could be a melatonin, melatonin.

Speaker 1:

Italian. So he goes into the church. He's trying to crawl to the shadow. They're fighting, all the ghosts are going in, all the spirits are going into Iceman. We learned earlier that Iceman doesn't have a soul so he couldn't be punished in vengeance. Right, all the souls go in it. And then Ghost Rider's like, or Johnny Blade's like throw me the gun. Roxy throws him the gun. He holds the gun in shadow. It turns into a Ghost Rider gun. Didn't see that coming? Well, of course you didn't, because it doesn't make any sense. Dan, yes, because it's just like his motorcycle. He ghost-rided it.

Speaker 2:

Well, sure, but he ghost-rides his jacket, it's daytime.

Speaker 1:

His hand is ghost-riding. He ghost-rides his hand.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you're right.

Speaker 1:

Couldn't he turn his hand into ghost-riding to make fireballs? Yes, I think so. Yes, yes, yes. He shoots him, then he reforms and then Ghost Rider walks over there and Ghost Rider's because he's fully in the Ghost Rider form, and then, since he has a thousand bad souls in him, he gets to kill him, which? Is very confusing. Why is it confusing?

Speaker 2:

They set up that he didn't have a soul.

Speaker 1:

Now he's got a thousand souls in him.

Speaker 2:

You can judge him a thousand times sure, but so you're saying that this is the first thousand souls that he's collected? He's never collected another soul before in his life, so he's at zero souls. Okay, just stay with me on the math here and now he has at zero souls. Okay, just stay with me on the math. Here and now he has 1,000 souls and he's going to be able to overpower the devil.

Speaker 1:

Well, I would assume when you take up the souls right, you eventually are going to get their power. It's like food right. When you eat a food, say you're eating a food.

Speaker 2:

Okay, I'm eating a food Reese's peanut butter cups.

Speaker 1:

What do you get when you eat a food? Tummy ache, tony. Don't be, I'm going to tell you, I'm going to make a joke. You get a tummy ache when you eat food. Yeah, it's super funny, tony.

Speaker 2:

What do you do? You get nutrients oh, I get nutrients. Is that what you want to hear? And you get energy. I don't know if I get energy.

Speaker 1:

You get energy to get through the day right. Sure, so he's gaining an energy right.

Speaker 2:

Sure.

Speaker 1:

Then I'm sure his body's going to process the souls and he's going to poop out their-.

Speaker 2:

The soul part of them, but keep the energy. Yes, exactly, but my thing is, if he's-.

Speaker 1:

I worked it out.

Speaker 2:

You didn't work it out, because he has a thousand souls and now he thinks he's going to take over the world. Yeah, that doesn't make sense.

Speaker 1:

Well, or a small village or cul-de-sac.

Speaker 2:

So you're saying this is just the first step? Yes, he's got a lot of steps to go Built out, but this is the first of many.

Speaker 1:

And there it is, and that means he won. He goes back and there's Mephistopheles and he's all like you did good, kid, I'm going to take the power back. And he's like, oh no, I'm going to own this curse and use it against you. You will pay.

Speaker 2:

Now here's a question. Tan Yep, mephistopheles gave him the curse yes, and he was about to take the curse back. Yes, he was, and Nick said no.

Speaker 1:

He said no.

Speaker 2:

Couldn't he just take it?

Speaker 1:

Well, it's a contract you gotta.

Speaker 2:

You know both parties gotta, but the contract's null and void. The contract's completed right?

Speaker 1:

well, not until you sign off on it that's not how.

Speaker 2:

You don't have to sign a contract twice once when it starts, once when it ends. That's's not how contracts work. I sign a contract, the contract was completed and now it's done.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but then you have to initial to take possession. Right, you have to initial, like, if the contract is, I'm going to pay you $500,. Right, you do something. You debased yourself in some way, like you do, like professional wrestling, which is not a real thing. So you've debased yourself in front of an audience and you're all like Sure, you're like at the end of the day you're like you owe me $500.

Speaker 1:

I put $500 on the table and what do you do? You sign on the dotted line to admit that you took the $500. You have to finish the deal.

Speaker 2:

Well, I wouldn't sign it again, I would just take the $500.

Speaker 1:

No, but he's like, if you want this $500, he's got it held back. Your sweaty hands, he's not letting you do sweaty hands all over the money. No, and then he's not like, well, sign there, and then I'm going to give you this $500. That's it, I'm going to give you this $500.

Speaker 2:

That's it. I'm just saying. It seems like the devil could probably take back the curse. The guy's got the power to do it and if you're going to fight him, you literally told him your whole plan. You're like no, I'm going to keep the curse and I'm going to fight you If I was dead. We're like nah, nah, dude Done You're out.

Speaker 1:

You just don't understand how the devil works.

Speaker 2:

You're right about that so.

Speaker 1:

Roxy's like when will you go? What will you do? And he's like I'm gonna go wherever the world Takes me. This is my second chance.

Speaker 2:

And apparently it's Eastern Europe. Oh, eastern Europe. That's where the sequel takes place that we're gonna watch at some point, dan.

Speaker 1:

They actually go to Eastern Europe. That's what the little description said.

Speaker 2:

I mean, that's what the little description said. They shoot there, or that's where it actually occurs. No, that's where the description of the movie is like hiding out in Eastern Europe or something.

Speaker 1:

Oh okay, so it is Okay, that's good, and then you can shoot in Bulgaria and think about all the tax breaks it's great, there you go.

Speaker 2:

I love tax breaks.

Speaker 1:

So they do a kiss by the tree of love. And then Sam, what's his name?

Speaker 2:

The legends continue, but isn't he dead? Isn't he gone? He's a ghost. He's doing ghost narration. I'm so confused on him.

Speaker 1:

And that's the Ghost Rider 2. So there were a couple of good scenes. I thought the Ghost Rider look was fine, kind of fun. Could everything have been done better? Of course it could have been done better, it wasn't terrible.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean those aspects weren't terrible. The movie it's not great. I'm pulling a Tony yeah, you are, because this movie is not great Dan. There's a lot of things that don't make any sense, but in my mind now that I'm past it.

Speaker 1:

I will think back fondly of this movie. I'll think back fondly.

Speaker 2:

I'll never watch this movie again, I won't. I'm not angry at the director.

Speaker 1:

I'm angry at the person that scored it.

Speaker 2:

I'd have some words for that, I'd be like no, no bro. Is that? Those are your words? Those are my words. I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed. Okay, no, not great sir.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and who scored this? John Williams? No, he didn't. No, he didn't score Okay.

Speaker 2:

I was like wait a second.

Speaker 1:

That can't be right. That's like a real guy. Do you know who John Williams is?

Speaker 2:

He does scores, and stuff.

Speaker 1:

Do you not know what John Williams scores?

Speaker 2:

Was he the Star Wars guy? Yeah thank God, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm going to try and see if I can look up On IMDB who did the score for this. Yeah, you should All cast and crew Writing cast this. Yeah, you should all cast and crew something you writing cast produce music by christopher young.

Speaker 1:

Oh, old news that christopher young oh dude, he's so cool.

Speaker 2:

He's got like sunglasses and a top hat. He's pretty cool. He did swordfish swordfish.

Speaker 1:

The score I don't remember being terrible, no.

Speaker 2:

That was one of his bangers. Oh god, that's good stuff.

Speaker 1:

Anything else to say about Ghost Rider 2007?

Speaker 2:

I'm excited to see the second one.

Speaker 1:

It's supposed to be much worse.

Speaker 2:

I can't imagine, so very excited.

Speaker 1:

Now we talk about something we like this week. Tony, what did you like this week?

Speaker 2:

Only Murders in the Building has started. It's Third, fourth. Fourth, I think the fourth season.

Speaker 1:

I don't know. It's a new season, for sure.

Speaker 2:

I think this is the best start to a season They've done. I always feel like the first two episodes of their seasons are very slow. Oh, todd's, but I feel like this has really come out swinging. It's really funny and, you know, I think they're all really hitting their stride.

Speaker 1:

So I'm really enjoying it. Todd's very happy. He wants me to talk about it, but we never finished the third season, so I've got to finish the third season.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean it's fine, you know, but again, I think this one's really good, dan, I think just skip it, it doesn't matter.

Speaker 1:

Skip the third season, just go right into four. Is that what you're saying?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you might have to watch the last episode of the third one, because it sets up the mystery for this season.

Speaker 1:

Maybe we'll do that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Other than that, you're good. Well, we started a new Taskmaster season I don't know, 1921.

Speaker 2:

50,000.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's fun. You know, I don't think it's going to be a season for the ages like some of the other seasons, but you know, it's fine Holding its own at least.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's good Taskmaster.

Speaker 1:

They know what they're doing. Tony we need another movie.

Speaker 2:

We need another movie, give us another movie and I apologize because I'm going to interrupt the Halloween flow a little bit and then the next week we'll get back into it hardcore. But we're going new, new because a wonderful new movie just dropped and I think it's going to be a real banger. It's based on a wonderful new movie just dropped and it's I think it's going to be a real banger. It's based on a wonderful video game and it's, of course, called Borderlands. Can you watch that? Yeah, yeah, it's on Mavoodus. Oh, okay, good, I'm sorry, fandango at Home I keep misrepresenting. They're never going to sponsor us, dan, if I keep saying the wrong thing.

Speaker 1:

I mean, this has what's her name in it Greenblatt, who we love, sure ariana?

Speaker 2:

greenblatt. Who's just what were you hoping for? Your fingers are crossed and then you seem disappointed. What were you hoping? Not going to tell you?

Speaker 1:

okay, all right, there's more movies out there that are new.

Speaker 2:

I mean there are. There's a couple ones that came out and I was like, wow, we have an embarrassment of riches right now.

Speaker 1:

We're not going to be getting them until after Halloween. That's true, we've got some time there was one that just dropped and I started watching, like you know, the first five minutes of like blah blah blah, blah, blah, blah blah, blah. This is how things work and I was just like no.

Speaker 2:

I was like is this a?

Speaker 1:

series and I'm like no hour and 42 minutes. Oh my God.

Speaker 2:

They're talking, it's so terrible. Well, I'm excited to see what that is.

Speaker 1:

Borderlands yeah, if I had heard good things about it I would have maybe gone see it in the theater, but I've heard so many bad things about it.

Speaker 2:

Okay, I thought you were saying you heard good things about it and I was like what I haven't heard one good thing no one's heard good things about this movie.

Speaker 1:

Very excited.

Speaker 2:

Did they?

Speaker 1:

put this movie on the shelf for two or three years.

Speaker 2:

Oh, did they.

Speaker 1:

I haven't done any research, oh yeah this movie is on the shelf for like two or three years, I mean.

Speaker 2:

Eli Roth. Has he done any good movies?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he was in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Bastards.

Speaker 2:

So still no.

Speaker 1:

He hasn't made it.

Speaker 2:

I mean, he hasn't created anybody, he's been in it. You know I've never seen Inglourious Bastards. You've never seen it. I don't enjoy Tarantino and I fell off before that movie came out.

Speaker 1:

There's some scenes in there that are absolutely worth watching, and I mean it made christopher, got christopher waltz all the terrible jobs that he did after that sure, so yeah you know. So you know it worked. It's magic. What was the one? Oh, there's like the weird one where he like goes in there and he's trying to fix a company. I think it might have been a series. I had to turn it off, fix a company. Okay, yeah, he's like he's a series, I had to turn it off, fix a company.

Speaker 2:

Okay, yeah.

Speaker 1:

He's kind of like the devil and he comes in there and has a briefcase and it was what.

Speaker 2:

Well, you better find that I'm intrigued. I did not make it through that one.

Speaker 1:

I know Shannon's always like why are you watching all this stuff? I'm like because I got to see everything.

Speaker 2:

Why are you watching all this stuff? I'm like because I got to see everything I have to see as much as I possibly can.

Speaker 1:

There's some truth to that. I get it Just on a side tangent. Tig Notaro has this weird YouTube show where she has celebrities on and she has no idea who they are because she doesn't pay any attention to pop culture. What so? She doesn't watch any attention to pop culture, so she doesn't watch any pretty much any tv or movies, and so she the two episodes.

Speaker 2:

It's not a good show, it's a very under a rock with tig notaro it's a very very bad show and they canceled it after two seasons rightly so.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I'm sponsored by alexa because she has alexa on it okay, great, but great, but she so like the two I watched she had kelly kukoc from big bang theory, and then lena heaney lena heaney from game of thrones huge, huge stars did not know who they were.

Speaker 2:

Nothing, okay, I'm like that's pretty interesting. That is interesting.

Speaker 1:

I'm gonna watch some of it watch a couple sadly the the way they do it. It's not funny. Um, it's just how how they do it.

Speaker 2:

It's it's like only six minutes long and so she doesn't really even interview the people and we don't really it's it's kind of like a guessing game sort of, but not in a good way oh, all right, yeah, yeah, the concept was interesting, and now this is you're making it worse yeah, the concept is is is fine, she should just have a discussion with them and then it should sort of come out over the process of the discussion um hold on. One of the description is in this episode, notaro tries to recognize james vanderbeek. I'm sorry, I can't.

Speaker 2:

I can't watch this okay if you don't know, james vanderbeek, you shouldn't even be alive yeah, but yeah, that's.

Speaker 1:

It's weird, I love that guy, love that guy, and it's not like a mental thing, it's just that she just doesn't.

Speaker 2:

You know, yeah, know, yeah she just doesn't give a shit. She doesn't give a shit.

Speaker 1:

I mean we were looking at, like all the people that were at the VMAs or whatever, and I'm just like I don't know any of these people.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean that's fair. Did Katy Perry perform? I feel like I heard Katy Perry, but not good.

Speaker 1:

I don't know, Did you watch the new video? Oh man, no, Because we, for some reason, we started talking about her. Oh, because she put out the new video and the new thing and everybody was just like uh-uh, uh-uh, uh-uh.

Speaker 2:

Interesting. Okay, I was talking to you.

Speaker 1:

You should watch the big video, okay, and you're just like what the fuck is, you know, because it's like this is my feminist anthem and it is like the most male gaze thing that you've ever seen, and it's just like she looks weird. Oh, no, okay, but the problem is she was like the young performer for so long and now everyone are like these 22-year-olds that are like whoa, okay, very attractive.

Speaker 1:

There are many very attractive people in music right now, and she's not one of them, but she's wearing the clothes like she's one of them and you're just like, of course I mean not that her body is terrible or anything, but you're just like. You're in competition with all these other sure people that are like. You know, all these other people that are like you know All these other people.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, because that's what you need to do. You need to find someone incredibly hot and then you just process their vocals and boom whatever I wish someone would process my vocals.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, me too.

Speaker 1:

Yours, yeah, no, I got it, I figured Perfect. Yeah, you sound great, great. Here's a question for you tony, okay, lay it on me have you been doing enough stuff over the years that when you hear your voice, you hear your voice and you do not hear a different voice?

Speaker 2:

I think I understand your question and, yeah, yeah, I've heard my voice and seen my image enough on screen that I I know what I sound like and it's not great. I'm kidding, I love it. I listen to our own podcast because I love my voice so much, dan.

Speaker 1:

I always like listening to our own podcast, because I listen to it and I'm like, oh, now I'm gonna. I'm like, oh, yeah, that's the joke. I would tell I'd tell that joke again. You know like I make all the right joke choices.

Speaker 2:

You know I don't like I don't listen to go like, oh man, you shouldn't have gotten there.

Speaker 1:

I'm like yep, swing and a miss dan twing and a miss solid dan goodsell.

Speaker 2:

I'm like yeah, because you listen to yourself idiot yeah, I'm batting a thousand on this, on this podcast too, so I get it, dan, I get it okay.

Speaker 1:

Well, we'll be back next week watching some movie oh borderlands borderlands. Little kevin hard and jack black doing poop jokes. Jamie lee curtis I. I love the robot design. The robot design looks great I don't know. All right, I think I'm gonna like this movie.

Speaker 2:

I I'm okay, something to look forward to dan I'm inclined to like this movie.

Speaker 1:

I mean, they're gonna have to work pretty hard to make me not like it I think they're gonna work just hard enough.

Speaker 2:

I really do but, I'm excited to find out.

Speaker 1:

I think we might have ghostwriter as a winner and borderlands as a winner two winners before we go into halloween for dan goodsell, I've got some absolute shit to do for halloween.

Speaker 2:

So should be good should be good.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so we'll be back then. Uh, give us a comment, leave the thumbs up, even subscribe if you're so inclined, great job. I was watching something and they were like there was like some terrible person and they were, they were dragging this person. They were all like, look at your videos. They only get like 25 views. You're a worthless piece of garbage and I'm like we do a lot of work to get that. You have to be happy with it.

Speaker 2:

Well, you don't have to be happy with it. You have to live with it. You have to live with it.

Speaker 1:

It's like this world is. There's a lot, You're competing with everything now.

Speaker 2:

So true yeah, and we're losing. We have lost.

Speaker 1:

So we'll be back with some Borderlands next week.

Speaker 2:

Goodbye everybody with Dan and Tony. Hey, watch it with Dan and Tony. It's like watching yeah.
